A Simply Betty Challenge to Die for!!!

It's Friday, and time for some fun.  We have a new challenge over at Simply Betty Challenges for it, and it's a goodie...

This week we are challenging you to use your DIES!  Now that's a challenge to "die" for no?
One lucky winner will receive the following two digi images: Gift Wrapping Alex and Judy Present from the new Sweet Gothic Kids Christmas line!

Here's my card using Gift Wrapping Alex..
For my background I used some of Echo Park's Everybody Loves Christmas Papers, along with some Co-Ordinations cardstock.  I cut my Christmas Tree from some dark green cardstock I had in my stash using a Sizzix die, and cut a plant pot to go with it.  I then added various sizes and colours of rhinestud to my tree to give the impression of baubles.  I coloured Alex to coordinate with the papers, before cutting him out and adding him to the card with foam pads.  To finish it all off I added some Red Alphabet Letters, and the bunting I'd die cut from a scrap of the patterned paper.

I love how this turned out, especially the Christmas Tree, I think i'll be creating a few more Trees with Baubles this year, lol!!  You've got until August 4th to upload your card to the Challenge Blog, and be in with a chance of winning two gorgeous images.

Bye for now

Edit:  I've just found out this card is perfect for the new Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge, the challenge being to create a Christmas card/project.  Pop over to the Fussy and Fancy Blog to check out the DT's lovely inspiration pieces.

Pixie Dust Studio Challenge #85 - What's Your Favourite Colour??

For this week's challenge, we want to know...
                                          What's your favorite colour???
Create a monochromatic colored card/project using your favorite colour!!!
Here's my card..
I'm sure it will come as no great surprise to you to know that Pink is my Favourite  Colour!  I couldn't resist colouring 'Miss Britney' for my card today, isn't she cute, I love her hair!

For my card I chose a pale pink card base, onto which i added some pink striped paper.  I then diecut a star out of a coordinating pink and white striped paper, and layered it onto my card.  My sentiment is created by using the word stickers at the bottom of the Tiny Type Alphabet Sticker Sheet by Cosmo Cricket.  I drew round the star shape and stickers with a white gel pen to add a little definition to them, before adding my image to the card.  Miss Britney is coloured with Letraset Promarkers and White Gel Pen, and embellished with a few pink pearls.  To add a little more bling to my card, I added some clear gems (which I coloured with my Promarkers).

I love how this card turned out; I must admit I have a weakness for monochromatic cards, I find them very relaxing to work on.  I simply choose my colour and then choose a light, medium, and dark version of it in my colouring medium and get colouring.

Have Fun playing along with our Challenge
Make sure you come back next week, when we'll have some rather chilly sneak peeks for you!!!
Bye for now

What's New Wednesday?

Today I'm lucky enough to be featured over on Canadian Nickel Scrap'n blog, and the 'What's New Wednesday' feature.  Here's what i shared...

Who is....Mrs Weyremaster?

My real name is Suzanne McKenzie, my friends and family call me Suzi.
I've always loved arts and crafts, I love to colour stuff!!
My Pseudonym is based on a character from the Dragon of Pern Books;  My hubby is a fan of them, and used to call himself Weyremaster online, so when i needed a log in name for a craft forum, I decided I'd be Mrs Weyremaster, and it's kinda stuck .

What am I upto?

I no longer work due to ill health (Fibromyalgia, etc) so am lucky enough to have lots of time to craft. I do Design Team work for three wonderful companies, Simply Betty Stamps, The Stamping Boutique and The Pixie Dust Studio.  I'm also a member of the Burtonesque Doll Challenge Blog, where I get to embrace my dark and quirky side!!
I also have my own challenge blog called Desert Islands Crafts Challenge.

What's new and exciting?

Every day is new and exciting as I get to craft with wonderful images, and my craft stash, aswell as spending time with my Hubby Stewart.  I think the most exciting thing for me at the moment is how well Desert Islands Crafts Challenge is doing.  It was a mad idea I had at the beginning of the year...  It is very simply really, twice a month we post a new Desert Island Itinerary, which is a list of 10 crafty items/themes/techniques that you'd want to take with you if you were stranded on a desert island.
The challenge is to use at least 3 items from the list on your project, the more items you use the better. I love seeing all the different creations based on the same list.

My project?

I decided to make another card for the current Desert Islands Crafts Challenge
the challenge is open until 31st July, so you've still plenty of time to join in.

Thanks for visiting with me
Have a great day

Oh Baby! I'm a Pixie

Happy Friday Everyone, Today I get to share with you some wonderful news that's I've had to keep quiet...I'm a Pixie...Yes, I've been allowed to rejoin the Pixie Dust Studio Design Team; I am so happy and honoured, I've really missed working with the other Pixies and Kathy's wonderful images.

Let me introduce you to the full Pixie Dust Studio Design Team

The New Pixies

and Me

And the Resident Pixies
Margie (DT Coordinator)

It's also release day at The Pixie Dust Studio, you can now get your hands on the absolutely awesome, and amazingly cute 'Oh Baby! Collection'.  I think these are the cutest baby images I've every seen, and I had real fun creating my projects to share with you today.

My first project features the wonderful 'Pixie Ark' image.  I coloured the image in using Photoshop, and then printed it onto Iron on Transfer paper, aswell as white cardstock.  I added the Iron on to a white onesie.  I created a card to coordinate with the onesie, using some scraps of Echo Park Paper, a EK Success Border Punch, and a sentiment from Inkadinkado.

I also created a couple of cards using the wonderful sketch that Kathy created for this week's Pixie Dust Challenge. I used the Baby Boy image on my first card, and the Baby Girl image on my second.  The papers are all from the DCWV Spring Stack, I used a rosette die to create the paper rosettes for each card, adding pearls to the boy card, and flowers to the girl card.  My images are coloured with Letraset Promakers.

I'm sure you like these images as much as I do, you can find these and the rest of the Oh Baby! Collection in the Pixie Dust Studio.  Don't forget to visit the other Pixies to see their wonderful creations.

Have a great day

Amber Ink Birthday Blog Hop

It's hard to believe, but it's 12 months since Amber Ink debuted, and I was lucky enough to be one of the inaugural torchbearers.  What better way to celebrate than a blog hop, below your find links to all of the stops along the way, make sure you leave plenty of love along the way, cos there are prizes to be won (Winners will be announced on Friday on the Amber Ink Blog)
I had great fun making this Birthday Card for Amber Ink, I used images from the Hostess with the Mostess set, along with the icing and sentiment from the new Bake me a Cake set.  My papers are ipapers from the Amber Ink store in 3 different colour ways.

I used one of my favourite techniques on this card too, the spotlight technique; remember this card from the Amber Ink Launch....
This is still one of my favourite cards.  I hope you like it too.

Have fun hopping along,
Thanks for visiting with me

A Special Birthday Card

Good Morning Peeps, I thought that today I would share with you a Birthday Card I made for a very special person.  It was my Wonderful Hubby Stewart's Birthday yesterday, and this is the card I made for him.  Stewart loves Monkey's and is a bit of a cheeky monkey himself, whereas I love Elephants. So I couldn't resist these two adorable images from The Pixie Dust Studio's Circus Collection.

I'm very happy to say Stewart had a lovely birthday and loved his card.
Have a great day all

On the Second Day of Christmas in July

Simply Betty Stamps gave to me...

A Sexy little skater named Sally! Yeah I know it doesn't rhyme but that's ok she's still the cutest little ice skater I have ever seen!
Isn't she beautiful, I really do love the Sweet Gothic Kids Girls, and I think Sally is my favorite.  I raided my paper stash and used some 'Naughty and Nice Christmas' patterned paper from Papermania, I love the colours in this paper, so glad I've still got some in my stash (Yes, that means you'll be seeing it again, lol!!)

I used my EK Success Pine Tree Border Punch to create my tree line in the background.  Sally is coloured with Letraset Promarkers, along with a little white gel pen.  To finish my card off I added some epoxy stickers, in various shades of green, I don't know if you can see, but they have glitter embedded in them, so sparkle nicely.

Sally will be available to purchase on Friday along with the rest of the Sweet Gothic Kids Christmas stamps, remember they will be available in as digi stamps for a limited time only, so get them when you can!!

Animal Antics with Stamptacular Sunday Challenge

The Stamping Boutique is sponsoring this week's Stamptacular Sunday Challenge, and I couldn't resist playing along when I saw the theme was 'Animal Antics'; I've had this monkey image printed for quite a while now, and never got round to colouring it, so this challenge was the incentive I needed.

The Monkey image comes from the Pocket Patooties Collection over at The Stamping Boutique.  This image makes me smile, so I had to colour it in bright and cheerful colours.  I had some scraps of yellow patterned paper so I decided to pair them with a nice green card blank, and a vibrant orange background to the image to really make it zing!  I added a couple of ticket sentiments, which i coloured to coordinate with my card.

Thanks for visiting with me

It's Release Day, here's Harry and friends

Yes, It is finally time to release The Potters into the Simply Betty Stamps Store, you can can you hands on all of the digis now, and if you hop over to the Burtonesque Dolls blog, I think you'll find some discount offers, and maybe a chance to win an image or three!!

So here's Harry...
So you might have noticed that my Hermoine, Ron and Harry Cards all look rather similar!!  That's because it's all one card...
My Potter Triptych Closed
Here it is all opened up.  I used a Spellbinders Dot Frame Die to cut out my frames, I then used the die as a template to create a back piece for each frame.  My images are all coloured with Letraset Promarkers.  I added some hotfix rhinestuds to the frame to give a little bling.  I sandwiched the ribbon between the frame and back piece along the length of all three frames, so it can be folded closed.  Using a couple of pearl ribbon sliders, I created two buckles.

I'm really pleased with how this turned out, I don't make a lot of 3D projects, so I was suprised a how well this turned out, it even stands up on it's own.  Hope you like it too
