Flower Power with Eureka Stamps

It's the start of a new week, so time for a new challenge over at the Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog.  This week's challenge theme is.. Flower Power, we want to see flowers as a focal point somewhere on your project.

For my card I chose the beautiful 'I'm so sorry' image; this image is perfect for a sympathy card, or any situation where you want to let someone know your sorry, and thinking about them. I coloured the image with a mix of Letraset Tria and Promarkers, before cutting it out.

My papers for this project are from the 'Alla Prima' paper pad by Prima, such beautiful delicate shades of yellow, green and turquoise in these papers, and I love the abstract floral designs, before for this card.

To add a little texture and bling to my card, I added some dark green velvet ribbon with some yellow pearls. Along with a handmade flower and some leaves.

I hope you like my project and feel inspired to join us in our challenge, make sure you hop over to the challenge blog to see the beautiful inspiration pieces from the rest of the DT, and get full details of the challenge.

The Paper Shelter Challenges #100 Celebrations

The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog is Celebrating their 100th Challenge, so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity for me to play along.  The Challenge theme is 'Celebrations' so I decided to make an Anniversary Card featuring the beautiful Love in Venice Image. I coloured the image with Letraset Tria and Promarkers, before cutting the image into a heart shape.  I decided on a mainly monochrome colour scheme for this card with the addition of some red and pink.  The patterned papers are from My Mind's Eye Love Me Collection.  I added some black gloss card stock to give some contrast to all the pink and add a bit of drama.  I kept the embellishments very simple, adding some heart border strips along with a little '' flag.  I added some doodled frames to my image and paper and finished it all off with the 'Happy Anniversary' sentiment.

I had so much fun colouring this image, and love how the finished card looks.  I was tempted to add some bling, but I kind of like the clean and simple feel it has without any bling.

The Paper Shelter Challenge runs for a few more days, and you'll want to play along if you've got some crafty time this weekend, as they have 5 prizes up for grabs, and you can use any image you like, as long as it's a celebration card you make.

Thank you for visiting with me today
Have a wonderful weekend all

A Little Inspiration from Whimsy Stamps

Good Morning, Today I'm sharing with you a card featuring another of the beautiful Fairydust Images available at Whimsy Stamps.  My image today is 'Land of the Dragonflies', illustrated by Charity Dauenhauer.

The image is coloured with a mix of Letraset Tria & Promarkers, with the addition of some Sakura Metallic Pen for the fairy's hair, and some Sakura Stardust on the wings and dragonflies.  My papers are from Limited Edition's Dreamcatcher Paper pad.  I kept this card very simple, as I just wanted to showcase the beautiful image and papers, so my only embellishments are some bright pink organza ribbon to cooridinate with the fairy's dress and a sentiment from Whimsy's Magical Mini Letter Seals stamp set.

I do love colouring magical images, so much scope for imagination and use of unusual colours. The perfect way to relax!

HB Dad

Today I'm sharing the card I made for a very special person, my Dad.  It's his birthday today and hopefully he's having a nice relaxing day.  It's quite funny cos my Dad is actually starting to look like the image on his card, Although his hair isn't quite a wild as AL's, and he's got a beard to go with his moustache.  AL is from the Randi Dandi Collection of images by Rick St. Dennis, available in his Etsy Store.  I teamed AL up with papers from My Mind's Eye's 'On The Bright Side' paper pad, not only because I love the combination of florals and wooden patterns; but it seemed appropriate with my Dad being a Monty Python Fan.

Eureka Stamps are Inspired by a Song

It's time for another fun challenge over at Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog, and today's challenge will reveal more about you than you may think!!  This week's theme is
Inspired by a Song
What's revealing about that?  Well your choice of song can reveal so much about you, the music you like, the era you grew up in, and the mood you were in when you created your project!! So an extra bit of fun me thinks!

Here's my creation for this week;
This week I made a wall hanging instead of a card, as when my hubby saw this image coloured, he said he wanted the finished project, so I turned it into a wall hanging for him to hang above his PC.  I used the wonderfully detailed Wolf image from Eureka Stamps for this project, colouring it with a mix of Letraset Tria and Promarkers.

Do you know the song?

As soon as I saw the theme for this challenge, and the Wolf image in the store, I knew I had to created something based on this song.  I wasn't a Duran Duran fan back in the 80's, but I am a child of the 80's .

I hope you like my project and feel inspired to join in our challenge, and share one of your favourite songs with us.  Remember to hop over to the Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog to see the beautiful creations from the rest of the Design Team.

Thanks for visiting with me today.

A Delicious DT Call at Delicious Doodles

Do you love Delicious Doodles Images?  I know I do, so when I saw the post go up saying that they have a DT Call on at the moment, I knew I had to check it out and give it a shot; I missed the last call and have been kicking myself ever since, lol!!

So to apply for the DT, I have to share with you 3 of my favourite projects and tell you a bit about me, and why I want to be on the Delicious Doodles DT.  Sound's easy right!! Erm No!, choosing just 3 favourite projects has proven far more difficult than I thought.

Here's my first selection;
It's a very recent make, my DT Card for the 'All the Things I Love' Challenge over at Sparkle and Glitter with Rick St. Dennis; I love how this card turned out, firstly I love colouring images, and i'm quite partial to a little washi tape too! I think this card is a good example of my style, a hand coloured image, bright colours, funky layout, fairly clean and simple, but with a little bling too!!

Here's selection number 2;
This card features one of the Fairydust Images digital stamps from Whimsy Stamps.  Like the previous card, it's rather bright and very cheerful, and has a little washi tape on it.  I also love the texture the sequin waste gives the background.   This card also features another of my favourite things, fussy cutting, I love to cut my coloured images out and mount on foam pads to give some extra dimension.  I love dimension and texture in my cards.

Here's card number 3;
So I had to share my dark side with you, and I think this is one of my all time favourite darker cards, the image is 'La Rosa Muerta' from Delicious Doodles and was a joy to colour.  I love how I managed to get some wonderful textures and dimension to this card, without distracting from the beautiful image.

So that's my 3 favourites, now a little about me; I'm Suzi McKenzie, 30-something and I live in Aberdeen, Scotland with my adorable hubby Stewart and our 3 cats; Alice, Cleo and Dotty.  I've been colouring since i could hold a crayon, and never want to stop, it's one of my favourite things to do, it relaxes me and makes me very happy at the same time.  Unfortunately I no longer work due to health problems, Fibromyalgia, Anxiety, IBS etc, all very boring things, but they sure do sap ones energy.  So to stay sane I create cards, and blog them, work on a few DTs and get to chat with lots of wonderful crafty people online.  I'm also addicted to puzzle games and Facebook, which really is quite a dangerous combination.

Now the most important question Why do I want to be on the Delicious Doodles DT?   That's the easiest question to answer, I love Teri's drawings, always full of such great character and emotion, and her draughtmanship is truly awesome.  I'd love the opportunity to be on Teri's DT, work with her images, and share my creations with her fans and customers.

That's all from me for now, I hope i've not bored you. If you like Delicious Doodles images too then why don't you enter the DT Call, you could be one of the lucky people to make the team.

Isn't that an awesome prize, the DICC DT were lucky enough to get to play with this set for our challenge.

And now, on to the Itinerary. Remember, you must use at least 3 of the items on the Itinerary, and be sure to mention which numbers you worked with.

1. Heart(s)
2. Wings
3. Glitter
4. Doilie
5. Loving Sentiment
6. At Least 3 Patterned Papers
7. Smeared Ink Stamps
8. Lots of Texture
9. Metal Accents
10. Distressing

Here's my creation based on the Itinerary;
I love how this card turned out, I had the original idea of a rainbow of hearts on a textured backed and that idea developed into this card. I went for a white base to bounce the colours off, and then add 4 panels of embossed white card stock. I printed my winged heart image out 7 times and coloured with my Letraset Tria and Promarkers with the addition of some Silver Stardust Glitter Pen from Sakura. To finish it all off I added the sentiment, using these beautiful metal word embellishments I got from my lovely friend Kelli Green today. Perfect timing to finish this card!!

Now you'll want to hop over to the DICC Blog to see what the rest of the DT have created to inspire you and check out the beautiful creations from our Guest Designers the Smeared Ink DT. I hope you'll be inspired to join in, you've got until the 28th Feb to upload your projects

All the things I love with Rick St. Dennis and Sweetpea Stamps

It's time for a new challenge over at Sparkle and Glitter the Rick St. Dennis Challenge Blog, and I have to say the theme for this challenge has to be one of my all time favourites;

Create a project featuring your favourite tools, techniques, colours, and products.  The Perfect Challenge in my opinion

We are very lucky to be sponsored by Sweet Pea Stamps this week too, so here is my creation using the beautiful 'Wait for You' Image from Sweet Pea Stamps;

The things I Love on this card are the shape; I love shaped cards and this is from a cutting file by The Cutting Cafe, I also love my Eclips Machine, which I used to cut this file.  I love mermaids, bright pink and orange, hearts and texture, background stamping and sparkle.

This is the reverse of the card, decorated with embossed die cut hearts and some of my favourite tiny alphabet letter stickers.

Here is my creation using the gorgeous 'Marionette' image by Rick St. Dennis;
The things I love on this card are, the awesome image, the colours, the washi tape and gems.  I love the quirky layout and I love using my Alcohol Markers to colour the image and add the faux stitching, which is another of my favours.

So between the two project i've shared with you quite a few of the things I love to use when crafting, I can't wait to see All of the Things You Love, so don't forget to join in our challenge.

With Love on this Special Day

Happy Valentine's Day to you All.  I decided to have a little play today and create a card to celebrate Love and Friendship, I used the beautiful 'Hugs and Kisses' by Saturated Canary.  For my layout I used Deconstructed Sketch #89; I tweeked it a little by having my fancy edges going in the opposite direction to the sketch, but I think it still works really well. I love the Martha Stewart Border Punch I used, I just wish they'd make them so you could rotate the punch so you could punch the top and bottom of your paper with the pattern up the way you wanted (did that make sense!!).  I was very good and raided my crafty stash for papers and card stock for this card, using patterned papers from Papermania's Love themed Colossal Paper Pack.  To Finish my card I added some of the hearts from the punch waste along with some white pearls, and a lovely sentiment from Whimsy Stamps.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges;
Deconstructed Sketch - Sketch#89
The Paper Shelter - Challenge#99 Be My Valentine
Sparkle and Glitter the Rick St. Dennis Challenge Blog - Challenge #9 Hugs and Hearts
Divas by Design - Love and Romance
Addicted to Stamps and more - Time for Bingo - Digi/Red/Heart
Creative Craft Challenges2 - Challenge #3 Hugs and Kisses
Oldie But A Goodie - Red and Pink - my patterned paper is my oldie
Digi Haven - Love/Valentines
Saturated Canary - Challenge#37 - Love

That's all from me for today, Wishing you all a wonderful day; Pop back tomorrow for some more lovely creations, I've lots to share with you tomorrow.

Our Topic this week is to
Add Some Metal

Here's my card featuring Little Pet by Marika Collins.  I love these cute sassy girls that Marika draws, you really should check them out in the store, perfect for those teenage girls, and tomboys too.  I coloured Little Pet with a mix of Letraset Tria and Promarkers.  My papers came from The Sweetest Thing Paper Pad by My Mind's Eye. My sentiment is from the 'Simple Everyday Greetings' Rubber stamp set by Whimsy Stamps; I love this set of stamps, a brilliant mix of sentiments for all those everyday cards you need to make, in a really nice mix of fonts, a must have for any card makers stash.  I embellished  my sentiment panel with some bakers twine and a cute little metal handbag charm.  As a final addition to my card i added a beautiful yellow flower with an orange wooden button for it's centre.

Swirls and Pearls with Eureka Stamps

It's time for a new challenge over at Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog, and this week it's all about 'Swirls and Pearls'.  For my card I chose to use the super sweet 'Baby Animals' image by Eureka Stamps.  I coloured my image with a mix of Letraset Tria and Promarkers and teamed it up with some papers from Prima's Sweet Fairy paper pad, along with some Co-ordinations cardstock.  My sentiment came from a pack I had hiding in my crafty stash, no idea who made it, but it worked perfectly with the Prima Papers.  I embossed some of the Co-ordinations cardstock with a swirl embossing folder and used this as a background for my sentiment.  To finish my card, I added two rows of pearls along the bottom of my card, and a few around the top corner of my image.

I like how this card turned out, after all you'd expect the image to be used on a Baby's card, but it works perfectly as a friendship image too, and looks great in slightly offbeat colours.  I hope you like my card too, and feel inspired to join us at Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog .

Movie Magic Monthly Challenge #1 - Alice in Wonderland

Welcome to the very first challenge Movie Magic Monthly; I'm sure you want to know which film got chosen for our first challenge.  It turned out to be a pretty easy decision, as it turns out that the majority of the DT love Alice in Wonderland.  So that's our Movie for this Month;

The rules of our challenge are very simple, your project must be based on the month's movie, and must be a new creation; other than that Anything Goes!!  You can enter the challenge as many times as you like throughout the month as long as you stick to our two simple rules.

Here's my card based on Alice in Wonderland;
I used the adorable Alice by Rick St Dennis, She's coloured with a mix of Letraset Tria and Promarkers along with some white gel pen.  My background papers came from the Family Ties paper pack from First Edition.  I kept my card fairly simple, adding a heart shaped doily, bakers twine, clock charm and some paper roses.  I think this would make the perfect invite for a Tea party, Who doesn't love afternoon Tea?  I know I do, weither the party guests are mad or not!!

I hope you'll join us at Movie Magic Monthly for our challenge, you've lots of time to join in, and we'd love to see your Alice inspired creations.

Sweet Hearts with Eureka Stamps

This weeks challenge over at Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog is all about Sweet Hearts, making cards for your sweet hearts, using hearts on your cards, basically it about sharing the love.

My husband loves monkeys and gorillas, so when i saw this super cute Gorilla with Bananas I knew it was the perfect choice for this card. I decided to be brave when colouring this image, and used the 'no black lines' technique; I think it worked really well with this images.  To accompany my image I couldn't resist the 'I'm Bananas over you' sentiment.

After colouring and fussy cutting my image, I decided to emphasize the bananas by using lots more yellow in my card.  I die cut a heart out of yellow card stock, then embossed it and added some distress ink to show off the embossing, and tone down the yellow a little. My background papers came free with a craft magazine a while ago and were hiding in my stash along with the pearlescent yellow card stock I used for my card base.  I printed my sentiment and die cut it before layering it onto my yellow heart.  To embellish my card I decided on some nice polka dot ribbon for the bottom of the card, and some heart shaped buttons.

I hope you like my Sweet heart card, if you want to see more beautiful love inspired cards, hop over to the Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog to check out the beautiful creations from the rest of the Design Team. Why not join in the challenge, and be in with a chance of winning some beautiful images from Eureka Stamps.
