Burtonesque Dolls Challenge#9 - If Tim Burton made a Vampire film....

This week we have a fun and different challenge for you!
Tim has done many wonderful movies... however I don't think he has made a Vampire movie, as matter of fact I am positive he hasn't... so what would a Burton Vampire movie be like?

Your challenge is to create a "Poster Board" to advertise a Tim Burton Vampire flick!

Simply Betty Stamps is releasing these fun Burton like Cool Vamps digis tomorrow, I chose to use Louie & Jazzy for my creation. I had a long think about what sort of Vampire movie Tim Burton would make, and decided it would have to be something a little different, as we all know he's awesome at taking traditional stories and turning them on there heads.  So i thought What if Tim Burton did a Vampire film based on a Shakespearean Play???  I considered Romeo & Juliet, but decided that had been done too many times, lol!  So i decided on Macbeth, it's already a rather bloody thirsty tale, so turning it into a Vampire film wouldn't be that hard....Macbeth meets three Vampire witches on his travels, who aswell as predicting his future turn him into a Vampire....!

After deciding on the concept of my piece, i set about choosing supplies, I have a few tartan papers in my stash, and decided that this bright mix of red, yellow and green would be perfect for this project.  I printed my images out and then set about creating the backing panels for them, i then paper pieced Louies outfit, and coloured the rest of him and Jazzy in with my promarkers.  I layered it all onto an A4 piece of red card, before adding my film title and cast, and finishing touches of a Rose for Jazzy's hair, and some pearls and gems for a bit of bling.

This was such a fun challenge, i can't wait to see what you all create, make sure you visit The Burtonesque Dolls to see the awesome creations by the rest of the Dolls, and to find out what you can win for taking part!!

Have a wonderful day

Friends Having Fun - Pop Culture Challenge#3 - Eclipse

It's time for another Pop Culture Challenge with Friends Having Fun, this months challenge is to create a card inspired by the newly released 'Eclipse' film.  Firstly i have to admit to not knowing alot about the Twilight Saga of books and films, as i've not finished reading the first book yet.  I do however love Vampire and Werewolf fiction, so i'm sure i'll finish reading the books eventually.

For my card i used the 'True Love' image from Pixie Dust Studio, along with the 'Lion & lamb' sentiment(a freebie) from Tlc Creations.   I printed my sentiment and image and coloured with prismacolour pencils, i then added sakura glaze pen to the text, and the animals eyes and nose to give them a shine.  I used a pearlescent gold card blank from my stash and left over papers from Cosmo Crickets 'Earth Love' Paper pad.  To add a little sparkle to my creation i added some gold pearls around the sentiment.

Thank you for visiting with me, and remember you have all month to play along with this challenge, we'd love you to link you cards over at the Friends Having Fun Blog.

Oh, Alice! Chapter 19 - Twinkle, Twinkle...

"Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!
How I wonder what you're at!"

You know the song, perhaps?'

`I've heard something like it,' said Alice.

`It goes on, you know,' the Hatter continued, `in this way:--

"Up above the world you fly,
Like a tea-tray in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle--"'

Here the Dormouse shook itself, and began singing in its sleep `Twinkle, twinkle, twinkle, twinkle--' and went on so long that they had to pinch it to make it stop."

Hello out there! It's a beautiful day here in Wonderland and a twinkling one at that! We are wrapping up one FABULOUS month with a super fun, no-pressure challenge! We are going to ring out the month of June with a Twinkle!
For my card i used a 10 x 7inch card base, papers from 'Earth Love' by Cosmo Cricket, along with images from the Pixie Dust Studio's  'Down the Rabbit Hole' Collection.  I printed my images out and coloured them with prismacolour pencils and ordourless spirits, i then added sakura stardust pens, glaze pens and some metallic too, to create lots of sparkle (unfortunately didn't photo graph well).
My images are mounted on the card with foam pads to give them dimension, and to finish it all off, i added some lime sequins which i added pearls to the centre.

I must admit this card took a lot of time, but i had so much fun colouring the images, i love being able to print my images fairly large, gives me more space for shading.

This week's challenge is just for fun, but we'd still love to see your sparkly creations over at the Oh, Alice! Blog, so please remember to link them.

Thank you for visiting with me, and have a wonderful weekend

StampInsanity Challenge#15 - Photo au Mojo… Birthday Style!

This week, we have a Photo au Mojo of these incredible birthday cakes…  YUM!  Your challenge is to use this delish pic to inspire you to make a truly GROOVY birthday card!
For my card i chose to use the beautiful Pierrette from Les Coquettes available at Stamp Happens Online Store.  I flipped Pierrette before printing her out (2 images for the price of 1, one of the advantages of digistamps) I then coloured her with my promarkers and prismacolour pencils.  I decided to use papers from the 'Delovely' Mini Deck by Cosmo Cricket.  I decided to create a background to look like a birthday present all wrapped up with ribbon, I cut a couple of strips of paper, and then die cut a bow for my ribbons.  I layered this onto my white card base, added Pierrette, and added some gorgeous 3D pink butterflies.  To finish my card off i added a flower to the centre of the bow, and some heart gems.

This is definately the sort of birthday card i'd like to receive, very pretty, pink, bright and cheerful.
Thank you for visiting with me and don't forget to check out the rest of the Groovy Gurlz gorgeous creations.

Please scroll down for this weeks Pixie Dust Studio Challenge, and Burtonesque Dolls posts :)
Edit: I'm entering this card into Dare U 2 Digi Stamp Challenge#40-Blooms & Butterflies, just been surfing and found that this card fit's their current challenge perfectly, some beautiful cards over there, definately worth a visit:)

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #8 Toe Tag Your It!!!

I've finally managed to get my card finished for this weeks Burtonesque Dolls Challenge, I apologise for the delay, but unfortunately real life too over, and i've been visiting my husband in hospital, he's home now, so we're all happy again, so time to share my creation.

This week the challenge is to create/alter a tag inspired by 'Beetlejuice'.  We don't have a sponsor this week, but make sure you visit the Burtonesque Dolls Blog to find out what you can win, because it's something rather special!!!

For my tag I used the very handsome 'Charles' Tulips' image from Tiddly Inks Gothic Cute range of images. I added some stripes to his outfit using a couple of dark grey pencils, before colouring the rest of him with my prismacolour pencils.  I created my tag from a piece of green cardstock, which i layered onto black cardstock.  I cut round Charles before adding him to the card.  I then added the 'Betelgeuse', first in pencil, then in pen once i was happy with the placement. I added some faux stitching to my tag, and to finish it all off a piece of black ribbon.

Thank you for visiting with me today.

Pixie Dust Challenge: Double Trouble

This week's challenge is to...
Use 2 or more images on your project!
For my card i chose to use Bella and Wolf Jacob both from the Twilight Collection.  Have you seen the new Eclipse inspired images?  Well now you can get them along with the original Twilight Collection all in one Massive Twi Mega Pack at an amazing price of $31 saving over £7 on individual prices.
On my card i used papers from the Indian Summer Paper pad by Basic Grey, along with brown co'ordinations cardstock. Both my images are coloured in promarkers, then cut and layered onto my card with foam pads.  I stamped and embossed my sentiment, before adding a mixture of rose and pearls to finish it all off.

I gave this card to my hubby Stewart, when i went to visit him in hospital last night, he's been in there for the last week with a nasty infection in his neck.  I'm delighted to say they were so happy with his progress that they let him come home today, so i'm a very happy bunny again.

I hope you have time to join in the challenge, don't forget to post your card to the Pixie Dust Studio Challenge Blog to be in with a chance to win a free image.

Pixies Don't Stop Believing!!

It's Monday already, I can hardly believe it, it's been a rather manic weekend for me.  I was going to post this card on Thursday when 'The Fair' collection of images was released at The Pixie Dust Studio, but life sort of took over, to cut a long story short, my hubby is in hospital, not sure for how long, but they are looking after him well, just wish they'd let him come home, cos i miss him!!!

Today's card features the super cute 'Rah Rah' from 'The Fair' collection available now at The Pixie Dust Studio.  I was inspired by one of my favourite tv shows, GLEE when i came up with this card, and decided to use the 'Don't Stop Believing' sentiment for my card, i computer generated the sentiment, then cut it out in the shape of a heart, which i then coloured with prismacolour artstix and ordourless spirits.  The artstix are brilliant if your wanting to colour a large area and get a good depth of colour.  I printed 'Rah Rah' out and coloured her hair and outfit with prismacolour pencils, and her body with promarkers, i like the difference in texture this gives the image.  My background papers came free with a magazine, i thought the bunting looked rather cute with the image.  I mounted my red heart on some dark blue card and added a ribbon to the back of it to hang it from the card. To finish it all off i added a few blue gem stones to the heart.

I hope you like today's card, and come back soon to see what else i've been making.  I'm hoping to be posting as usual this week, but i apologise now if i'm late with any posts.
Have a great week and Take Care all

CHAPTER 17: Mad Watch...

(taken from the Disney film adaptation, 1951)

March Hare: Its going mad!

Alice: Oh, my goodness!

White Rabbit: Oh dear!

March Hare: It is going mad! Mad watch!

Mad Hatter: I don't understand, it's the best butter.

March Hare: Mad watch! Mad watch! Mad watch!

Mad Hatter: Oh, look! Oh my goodness!

March hare: There's only one way to stop a mad watch!

Mad Hatter: Two days slow, that's what it is.

Greetings, everyone!  A VERY Merry Unbirthday to ALL!  Well, at least, that's the scene this excerpt from Disney's 1951 adaptation of Alice in Wonderland was taken from!   It's ALWAYS your unbirthday here in WONDERLAND :)

For this week's challenge, we have a beautiful inspiration piece, found on the CraftStylish blog.  Actually, our Mad Hatter liked it so much that she tried to track it down but to no avail so far!   The Mad Hatter NEEDS this piece, LOL!  That beautiful flower, steampunk vintage gorgeousness and all the classic timepiece elements to this are just GORGEOUS and we know it will make a FABULOUS inspiration challenge- two days slow or not!

Your mission this week? Show us YOUR take on this "Mad" watch.  You can use the colors, play off the time piece, blue flower, color combos, steampunk theme...the possibilities are ENDLESS, just like the deadline for this week's challenge, HA!  To enter to WIN an awesome prize from MFT, just have your entry into the Oh, Alice! Blog by Friday, June 18th at 8pm CST!  Have a VERY MERRY time creating!
For my card i used the gorgeous Alice and sentiment  from 'Beyond Wonderland' by this weeks sponsor MFT.  I created my card from some matte black cardstock, I used a scrap of blue paper for my bottom area and punched this on both sides to create a nice scalloped edge.  I then pricked holes along the centre so i could add a chain stitch detail in black ribbon. This was then added to my card with foam pads.  Then using Maya Road clock stamps, i created a background paper, stamped with black distressing ink, and heat embossed, i cut a large circle out of this paper, and distressed the edges.  Alice is coloured with a base of promarkers and then prismacolour pencils on top.  I stuck Alice to the card, then diecut my sentiment, added some pale blue gems to it, then added it to my card with foam pads.  For my embellishments i used a selection of paper roses, aswell as some pieces from an old watch.  To finish my card off I added a mix of clear and pale blue gems in various sizes.

I can't wait to see your take on the inspiration piece, have fun:)

A Groovy Recipe!!

It's Thursday so time for another StampInsanity Groovy Gurlz Challenge, and this week it's a wonderful recipe for you to play with.  On your card or project you must use the following:
  • - Black Cardstock,
  • - Pearls,
  • -a Skull shape, design, or whatever you can find!

For my card i decided to use Lita this week, but i gave her a rather radical haircut, and some interesting make-up!  I created my card base from a sheet of black cardstock, I them embossed a piece of mirri card with my diamond plate embossing foldering to create the 'stage' on my card.  For the background i used some paper from the 'RockStar' DCWV mat stack, which features silver skulls on it.  I decided to create a pearl embellishment for my card, first of all i printed off a skull clip art file, and using this as my base I added black and white pearls, i them cut it out and attached it to my card with foam pads.  I then printed a faux ticket using a template created by Caz, cut it out and distressed it before stapling it to my card.

Don't forget to go visit the rest of the Groovy Gurlz to see what creations they have to inspire you..

Birthday Card for a Special Friend

I'd like to share with you the birthday card I made for My Very Best CraftyFriend Ju's 60th birthday. I wanted to create something special, after all it's not every day that your 60!  Ju loves the colour lilac and purple, so i knew that would be the colour scheme i'd use for her card. She also loves Scrapbooking and Cardmaking, so I decided to use the beautiful 'Mad Scrapper' image from Busy Beauties Boutique.
I found the lilac floral paper in my stash, and decided this would make a lovely backdrop for my image.  I also wanted to included the number sixty on the card, so i create a template for myself, using Word Art in Microsoft Word, and then printing it out on card, before cutting it out.  I then drew round my template on the back of some glittered paper, and cut the figures out.  I created a little border detail at the bottom of my card with the offcut of floral paper and a border punch, I then added some lilac gingham ribbon and white/lilac paper roses.  To finish it all off, I added some tiny gems to the background paper, just to give it a little sparkle.

I can happily report that Ju received the card, and loved it, so I'm a very happy bunny.

I'm entering this card into the current challenge at the Busy Beauties Creation Station, the theme of the challenge is 'Anything Goes' so my card definately fits that criteria, lol!

Thank you for visiting with me today, and make sure you come back tomorrow cos i have some very groovy creations to share with you

Anything Goes with Busy Beauties Creation Station

Good Morning Everyone, I hope you've all had a lovely weekend.  I managed to find some time to play with an image from one of my favourite Digital Stamp Companies.  I used the super cute 'Mushroom Love'from Busy Beauties Boutique to create this card.

I decided to use up some scraps of paper that were on my table, these were left over from the Papermania Love Paper Pack.  I collaged some of the scraps together to create a background for my card.  I then printed my image, and coloured it with promarkers, before cutting it out and distressing the edges.  I added this to my card along with a handwritten sentiment, and some faux stitching.  To finish my card off I add three pearl heart pins.

This was a fun card to make, and will be perfect for one of those occasions, when i just want to left someone know that we love them.  I'm entering it into the current challenge at Busy Beauties Creation Station, which is a wonderfully open theme, Anything Goes!

The Mad Hatter said to Alice:

"You used to be much muchier before!  Yes, you were much more Alice the last time we met.  You've lost your muchness..."

Pixie Dust Release Day: Oh, Happy Day Collection

Release Day is finally here, so we get to share with you the whole 'Oh, Happy Day Collection' which is availabe in the Pixie Dust Studio today.  This collection features some of the most delightful images i've been lucky enough to work with, every single one really does bring a smile to your face, and they are so much fun to colour, you will love making cards with these images.

Not only is it Release Day today, but it's also time for a new Pixie Dust Challenge, and this weeks challenge is 'Punch it Out'  all you have to do is use some sort of punch on your card, could be a border punch, corner punch or maybe you want to punch out some flowers.  Here is my Challenge card...

For my card I used 'Party with Wink' along with the Sun and Sentiment from 'Oh, Happy Day'.  Doesn't Wink look cute in his high chair?  I love the accessories that come with this image, for my card i added a party hat to wink, and gave him a cupcake, so it looks like Wink is having a fun Party.  I coloured my images with promarkers, then trimmed the main image to make it square. I then cut a square of red card a bit bigger than my image, and punched a border all the way round it with a set of MS Around the Page Punches. I layered my image onto this card, which i then added to a card blank.  I punched out a circle of red card, and added the sentiment to this, before layering it on top of my colour Sun image.  To finish my card i added some faux stitching to my images.

Make sure you visit the rest of the Pixies, before popping over to the Pixie Dust Studio for your images, as they have lots more gorgeous creations to share with you.

Thank you so much for visiting with me today, Have a Very Happy Day :)

Pixie Dust Previews: Day 2

Good Morning Everyone, I do hope your all waking up to a beautiful sunny day like I did.  I can't think of anything better than the sun shining in the sky.  That partly inspired my card for today, I love this Smily Sun image that is released tomorrow with the rest of the 'Oh, Happy Day' Collection at the Pixie Dust Studio.

I decided to create a bright cheerful card to go with the very happy Sun image; I flipped the Happy Bug image, and printed out a mixture of them facing left and right.  I then coloured them in with prismacolour pencils and odourless minerals to create my rainbow of bugs.

This is a 8 x 8 card, not a size i work with very often, but was perfect for this project, as it gave me more space to layout my bugs.  I trimmed a piece card for my sky, then added my sun and bugs.  To finish it all off, I added a little rainbow of pearls to two of the corners, aswell as pearls for the eyes on the bugs and sun.

I hope my card has brought a smile to your face, please come back tomorrow for my final preview, and it's release day, so you can get your 'Oh, Happy Day' collection too.

Today i'd like to share a card with you featuring the super cute 'Gia the Giraffe'..
Isn't she sweet? and so versatile.  I flipped Gia to create a friend for her, I think i'll call him Giano lol!!  Don't they look lovely together.  One of my favourite things about digistamps is you can flip them to create another stamp, and i love pairing them together to create a little story on my card.  This is obviously a Love story card, I used patterned papers from the Papermania, Love collection, and added some dark red organza ribbon, and some gorgeous red roses.

I hope you like Gia and Giano, make sure you come back tomorrow for more previews of some super Pixie Dust Studio Images.  Check out the rest of the Pixies, to see what beautiful creations they have to share with you.
