Cherishing Friendship with Eureka Stamps

It's time for a new challenge over at the Eureka Stamps Challenge Blog, and this week our theme is 'Using Teal or Turquoise'

For my card i chose to use the beautiful 'Best Friends' image from Eureka Stamps, along with the 'I Cherish our Friendship' sentiment. I coloured the image with Letraset Tria markers, these pens work alongside other Letraset Alcohol Markers brilliantly as they all contain the same ink, the Tria's are just a little more expensive, they do have a few more colours than the Promarker and Flexmarker ranges, including some beautiful shades of Teal & Turquoise.

I kept my card very simple, using some white card stock for my base to which i added some variegated turquoise card.  I also added some dark teal ribbon behind my image, and created a coordinating bow to go below my sentiment.  To finish my card and add a little contrast, I added some 3D Butterfly stickers along with a large yellow fabric flower with a black brad in the centre.

That's all from me for today, off to try and sort some technical issues out with my PC, wish me luck, and I'll see you again later this week.

A Hug from Whimsy Stamps

Time for me to share another creation featuring one of the awesome images from Whimsy Stamps; today I'm featuring 'Boy Hug's by LiaStampz. I love Lia's style of illustration, such fun quirky images, always full of character and guaranteed to make you smile.

I coloured Boy Hugs with a mix of Letraset Tria & Promarkers, using a couple of shades of blue to create my sky in the background; I simply scribbled some areas of blue leaving some white gaps and then added some aqua and more blue to give the impression of a sky full of fluffy white clouds.

To create my sentiment I using some plastic letter charms to spell the word 'Hugs' and tied them onto some paper ribbon, I then added this to my image before matting onto some pink card.  Taking inspiration from the colours of the letters and ribbon, I added some yellow cardstock behind a heart shaped doily, which I cut in half. I stuff one half to the back of my image along with the leftover paper ribbon.

My background layer is a piece of variegated green card with the other half of the heart doily stuck to it, along which some pink punchinella, washi tape and ribbon.  I added this layer onto a white card blank, before adding my image.

To finish my card I added some wooden buttons with pink gem centres, and a few more pink gems.

I love how this card turned out, the combination of the heart doily, punchinella, ribbon and wooden buttons gives it a romantic feel, but with a fun quirky edge. I love combining the different colours and textures to create something just a little different.  Hope you like my quirky card too

Thanks for visiting with me, and remember to come back on Friday when it's time for the Whimsy Stamps Digital Release Blog Hop, it's going to be fun, so don't miss out.

Anything but Square with Rick St Dennis and Guest

It's time for a new challenge over at Sparkle and Glitter with Rick St. Dennis, and it's a fun one, all you have to do is create 'Anything But Square', so why not try a shaped card, tag or wall hanging, anything you like as long as it's not square.

We are very lucky to be sponsored by Stampart Design by Kathryne for this challenge, if you've not seen Kathryne's images then your missing out on some really cuties.  You'll find Kathryne's images over at the Whimsy Stamps Store, so why not hop over and check out her lovely work.
I love Kathryne's Little Bears, so today i'm featuring Little Bear Luv U, I'm using the bonus file that you get with this image.  I used the Heart Lace Shaped Card template from The Cutting Cafe for my card, cutting the base card out of yellow card stock to coordinate with Little Bear's Jumper, and the Heart Lace Overlay out of red card stock.

My second card for today's challenge features the Euro Payasos image by Rick St. Dennis, which you'll find in the Euro section of Rick's Etsy Store;
I love this image and it was a joy to colour.  I decided to embrace pastel colours for this card, colouring my image with a rainbow of pastel Letraset Tria Markers.  I then chose papers from Echo Park's Victoria Gardens Collection to create my Rocker Card base, Frame and Arrow embellishment. My sentiment is very simple; 'US' using alphabet stickers from the Victoria Gardens Collection.

That's my two very different Non Square cards for today's challenge.  I hope you'll be inspired to join us, and make sure you hop over to the Sparkle and Glitter with Rick St. Dennis Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the EDT have created to inspire you, and to link up your project.

Happy Crafting

DICC#46 - F's with Floppy Lattes Digital Designs

Fancy a challenge? Cos it's time for a new challenge over at the Desert Islands Crafters Challenge Blog, and this one is Full of Fun

Our sponsor, offering a $10 certificate to their online store for one random winner, is:

And here's our itinerary, created by Jenn:

    1. Fish or Fins

    2. Feathers

    3. Fur

    4. Frogs

    5. Fancy Text

    6. Flight

    7. Four colors

    8. Flowers

    9. Fairies

    10. Fabric

Here's my take on Jenn's Fantastic Itinerary,
I used the awesome Koi II image from Floppy Latte Designs for my card. I opened the image in photoshop, copied it and flipped it both horizontally and vertically.  I then added some fancy text between the two fish which reads 'Birthday Fishes for You'.  I then printed the whole composition and trimmed it down to the size i wanted for my card.

I then coloured the image with Letraset Tria & Promarkers, Pink and Brown for the fish, and Green and Blue for the background and text.  I added some green net fabric to my card base and the bottom part of my image.  I layered the image onto more cardstock before adhering it to the card base at a slight angle.

Not sure how often you see flying fish, but this turned out to be a fun card.  I had fun creating my background, and love the effect I ended up with.  Hope you like it too, and you'll feel like playing along with our challenge.  If you do, just remember to use 3 items atleast from the Itinerary and link up at the DICC Blog.

Layer it up and Let it Snow with Eureka Stamps

It's time for a new challenge over at Eureka Stamps and this week's challenge seems very appropriate considering the weather we've had this weekend.
Layer it Up & Let it Snow

My card features the beautiful 'Snow Church' image by Eureka Stamps.  This image was a delight to colour, I used a mix of Letraset Promarkers, Sakura Stardust, and White Gel Pen to get the wintery feel to my card.  The rest of the card is very simple, layers of white  and green cardstock to frame the image and sentiment.

I hope you'll join us at Eureka Stamps for our challenge, and thank you for taking the time to visit with me today.

Sharing some Whimsy Inspiration

Today I'd like to share with you a card I created using one of this months beautiful new releases from Whimsy Stamps.  I chose the beautiful 'Who is Talking' image by Fairydust Images, one of the newest artists to join Whimsy Stamps. I have to say the Fairydust Images are so beautiful and magical, I can't wait to colour a few more of them.  I did spend a long time colouring this image, it was such fun, and very relaxing.  I used a mix of Letraset Tria & Promarkers with the addition of a little white pastel for highlights.

I kept the rest of the card fairly simple, after all with such a beautiful detailed image, you don't want to detract from it, so I created my card base with some white card stock, to which I layered on a sheet of turquoise gradated card.  To add some texture behind my image I added a piece of cerise punchinella, along with some green & cerise dotty washi tape.  I then added my image using some 3d foam it give a little depth.

Looking for more Whimsy Inspiration, they why not visit the Whimsy Inspirations Blog, and how about joining in our current challenge.

That's all from me for today, have a wonderful weekend

Goodbye Granddad Ted

Today has been a sad day for me, as it's my Granddad's Funeral, and unfortunately I wasn't able to attend.  But I have been thinking about him a lot and wanted to share with you all some pictures of this wonderful man, and the card i created for my Nanny.

This was taken in my Granddad's garden in Sutton, Surrey circa 1981/82, (back row Granddad Ted, Nicola, Nanny Joyce, Nanny Audrey front row Eddie and Me)
This was taken in my Granddad's garden in Bournemouth circa 1999/2000, (Dad, Nanny Audrey, Me, Granddad Ted and Eddie), this was the last time i got to visit with Granddad, I so wish we'd lived closer together.

I used the Weeping Angel image by Teri @ Delicious Doodle for my card for Nanny Audrey, such a beautiful image, and colouring it was a cathartic experience for me, giving me time to focus on some of my memories of Granddad Ted, and remember what a truly lovely man he was, so kind and gentle with a wicked sense of humour.

Thank you for visiting with me today
