Something Strange going on in WonkaLand!!!!

Monsters have taken over the Chocolate Factory! Today we challenge you to take your inspiration from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, but Monster-ize it! Maybe a new chocolate can be made? Or use colors inspired by the movie and apply it to a Gruesome image making it fun, funky and all Burton!

We do have a wonderful sponsor for this challenge:

That's right Strange Skin! Now talk about fun and Burton like images! They have some awesome off beat digis you will not want to miss out on! Check them all out here!

Strange Skin will be giving away 2 digis from their online store to one lucky winner, and the winner gets to pick which two! Is that cool or what!!

For my card I used the 'Mr Hyde' image from Strange Skin, I erased the background, and used the 'Winter Candyland' image from The Stamping Boutique for my Wonka Land background. Doesn't 'Mr Hyde' make the perfect Willy Wonka, although I think someone may have upset him a little, lol!! Better give him back those everlasting gobstoppers!

I coloured my image with Letraset Promarkers, before layering it onto a black card blank with some checked patterned papers.

Magical Monday is Nice and Easel!!

It's Monday again, so time for another Magical Monday Challenge with Paper Cupcakes. This week it's my turn to choose our challenge. I would love you to make any kind of Easel Card, i.e. single easel, double easel, twisted easel

Below are some links to some of the other type easel cards if you want to try one that you have never attempted. I have made standard easel cards, along with twisted easel and double twisted easel cards before, and they are alot easier to make than you'd think, so why not have a go.

Twisted Easel Card Tutorial Video
Double Twisted Easel Card Tutorial Video
Triple Easel Card Tutorial Video

For my card I created something a little different..
It's a stair step easel card, and it was really easy to make.  Just make a standard single easel card, and instead of adding an embellishment or sentiment to hold the easel erect, you simply score lines across the front edge of the base to create your steps, on this card I created three steps, so scored six lines evenly spaced, and then folded accordion style to create the steps.

You can then decorate your card as you see fit.  One thing i like to do before folding all the score lines is to add a piece of background paper to the base of the easel, this means when you fold your steps, your folding your background paper at the same time, and get nice neatly covered steps.

As you can see I went with an underwater theme for this card, using the very cute 'Yarah and Blow' image from Paper Cupcakes.  All my papers for this card came from a digital paper pack called 'Under the Sea' created by PixelPaperPrints available at their Etsy Store.

I can't wait to see the wonderful Easel Card you'll create, have fun creating.

Add some Texture on Digital Tuesday with The Stamping Boutique

This week The Stamping Boutique is sponsoring Digital Tuesday Challenge, so I thought I'd play along, I do love a good challenge blog.

So this week's challenge at Digital Tuesday Challenge is to add texture to your card/project.  Here's my take on the challenge,
For my card I used the adorable 'Baby Boy on the Beach' image from The Stamping Boutique, such a beautiful little scene, and so much fun to colour.  I coloured the image with Letraset Promarkers.

I added lots of texture to this card, starting off with the background paper, which i embossed with a dotty embossing folder.  I then layered some sequin waste over my background paper, before adding my image.   I found some shells in my stash, and thought they would make the perfect embellishment for this card.

I love how this card turned out, really makes me want to go to the beach, something i must do more often this summer, after all I do live at the Seaside!

I hope you'll find time to play along with the challenge, there are so many different ways to add texture to you card, and I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Thanks for visiting with me

Magical Monday - Let's Make Some Flowers

Welcome to another Magical Monday challenge with Paper Cupcakes.  This week Sheng Vang brings us our challenge. She would love to see us make our own flowers and then use them on our card/project. So be creative with material, felt, punched and/or what ever other flowers you would love to share. There are a lot of great flower tutorials on youtube.com. So, what are you waiting on, go make some flowers!

For my card I used the super cute 'Saturday Chat' image which works beautifully with this patterned paper from the Sunshine Lollipops Wee Bundle by Sassafras.  I used a rolled flower die to cut my flowers from red and orange felt.  I then cut a couple of bunting banners from the leftover felt using a dienamics die.  I coloured my image in letraset promarkers to coordiate with the paper I'd chosen.  To finish the card off I added a sentiment from the Summer Ticket Sentiments also by Paper Cupcakes.

I hope you have a Magical Monday

Pink-a-Licious with Stamptacular Sunday & The Stamping Boutique

The Stamping Boutique is sponsoring this week's challenge at Stamptacular Sunday, and I had to play along, as it's the perfect challenge for me...

This week's challenge is a…

For this weeks challenge you will create a card or project using nothing but shades of PINK! Of course you can use skin tones for skin color, white cardstock as your base, black to stamp your image but EVERYTHING else MUST be PINK! Oh…and don’t forget to stamp! After all, we don’t call this STAMPtacular for nothing!

For my card I used the beautiful 'Marie Antoinette' image, I coloured her with prismacolour pencils and oms, and then layered her onto a white card blank with some pink patterned paper, and pink organza ribbon. To finish it all off I created a pink organza bow.

I have to say this is one of my favourite cards, I adore the image, and love pink, and love how the organza ribbon gives the impression of lacing.  Such a pretty card, even if I do say so myself, lol!!

I can't wait to see your Pink-a-licious creations, I'm sure they are going to be adorable.
Thanks for visiting with me today, and Have a Wonderful Day

Magical Monday Embossing

It's Magical Monday time again, and this week Molly Ritterbeck brings us our challenge. She would like to see us use some kind of embossing on our cards/projects this week. This can be dry or heat embossing.
For my take on the challenge, I went with dry embossing and used an embossing folder featuring pretty vines and Butterflies.  I matted this onto a silver card blank.  The image is a called 'Peony in Bottle' and is one of the lovely new releases by Nina which are all available in the New Arrivals section of the Paper Cupcakes Store.

Hello Sailor!!!

Hey you Pirate fans... how did you like that sneak peek of Bonnie?  Not bad eh?  You are going to love the next one...

Meet Lizzy, always ready for a fight, and never backs down!  She is one sassy wench no?  I love pirates, of course not the real ones, I think we often forget that not all Pirates are like Jack Sparrow right?  Most of the time I am sure they were a bunch of hell-ians!  Not like cute Lizzy here!  I think she will make an awesome invite to a girls pirate party!

I don't know about all of you, but I looove all the Pirate movies... not just because of Johnny Depp, but they are just too fun!

We will be having five days of previews, the sixth being a preview/release for these fun Pirate images!

So let's begin with:

Teen Scene Rio & Raven

Today's Sneak Peek features the Beautiful Rio and her pet Raven.  Isn't Rio the cutest, got to love those pigtails and glasses, reminds me of me when i was younger, lol!!

I decided to make a modified easel card, the modification being that I added some steps to the from of it;  This let me get Rio standing on the card, and the step also keep the easel card erect.  You definately need to make a box or envelope specifically for this card, as when if you fold it down, it's quite tall, but would still be postable.

My background paper comes from a digital scrapbooking kit called 'Hallowe'en in Oz' by Tangie Baxter. The rest of the card is very simple.  I added some Echo Park Alphabet Letters, along with some die cut crows.

I love how this turned out, very simple, but still quite dramatic, hope you like it too.  Don't forget to check out the rest of the awesome samples featuring Teen Scene Rio & Raven over at the Simply Betty Stamps Blog.

Have a great day

Teen Scene Betty & Batty

Let me introduce Teen Scene Betty and her pet Batty
I coloured Betty with watercolour pencils and a waterbrush, I was expecting the printer ink to run more, but found if your brush is just damp enough to move the watercolour pigment, the printer ink stays put.  This is the first time I've tried watercolour pencils with digital stamps, and I must say I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. Definately a medium I plan on working with a little more, I love the softer colour you can get.

So you've seen 4 of the Teen Scene's so far, only 2 more to go, and your going to love them.  Make sure you pop back tomorrow for No5, and remember if you want to see more of Betty & Batty visit the Simply Betty Stamps Blog to see what the rest of the DT did with this little cutie.

Have a great day

A Dilly Bean Burton Zombie!!!

So I was surfing Blogland the other day and came across this wonderful range of digital stamps, by a very talented artist, you have to check out Dilly Beans Stamps, by Megan K.Suarez.  I just love her style and couldn't resist purchasing the #167 Zombie Girls Set, which feature two gorgeous Zombie Girls.

I decided to create another card for the 'Burton Zombies' challenge over at The Burtonesque Dolls, where there is still a week left to upload your projects, and be in with a chance of winning some Simply Betty Stamps.

I coloured the Zombie Girl with prismacolour pencils and oms.  I create a card blank from some dark red card stock to which i added some scraps of red brick wall paper, and black and white tiled floor paper.  I added a sentiment from the Zombie Sentiments available at Simply Betty Stamps.com, before adding my coloured image to the card.

I love how this card turned out, Black, White and Red is always such a wonderful colour combination to work with, and screams Burton to me!

Thanks for visiting with me, and don't forget to check out Dilly Bean Stamps and Simply Betty Stamps for some wonderful weird and wacky images.

A Sketchy Magical Monday with Paper Cupcakes

It's Monday so time for another Magical Monday Challenge with Paper Cupcakes.  This week Lucy Marino brings us our challenge. She designed this wonderful sketch below for us to create a card this week. You can flip it, rotate it or stretch it, just as long as you can still see the sketch below on your card.

Here's my card inspired by this lovely sketch..
I used the beautiful Songs of Praise image from Paper Cupcakes along with some gorgeous Echo Park papers from the Summer Days Collection.  I kept this card very simply, letting the brightly patterned papers and beautiful image be the focus of the card.

I look forward to seeing your creations with this wonderful sketch.  Have a wonderful week
Thanks for visiting with me

Teen Scene Lola & Louie

Today we are showcasing the adorable Teen Scene Lola, and her pet rat Louie
I love this image, such a wonderful image of friendship, even if it has got a rat in it, lol!!
I decided to got for a rather bright and cheerful colour scheme for this card, and love the multi colour heart paper, so thought it would make the perfect backdrop for this lovely image.  Lola and Louie are coloured with Prismacolour Verithin Pencils.  I diecut my image with a circle die, before layering it onto a heart circle die.  I added a ticket sentiment, and to finish the card, roses in colours to coordinate with the papers.

Make sure you visit the Simply Betty Stamps Blog to see what the rest of the DT have done with this beautiful image, and remember more sneak peeks tomorrow.

Just for Mom

Time for another fun challenge with Simply Betty Challenges. Mother's Day is just around the corner for our friends in the USA.  So let's make something for Mom!  All you have to do is create a project for Mom, a card, a page layout, a mini album, goodies bucket anything for Mom!  Pretty easy challenge no?

My Mom loves to read, so I thought the perfect gift for her would be a bookmark.  I love the cute design of this Corner Bookmark, which i created by following a very neat tutorial over at Splitcoaststampers.com.
I used some black glossy card stock from my stash along with a quilted background I had left over from a previous project.  I used a very pretty heart border punch to create my decorative edge on the bookmark, and topped it all off with a free sentiment from TLC Creations, and the absolutely gorgeous Judy, from the Sweet Gothic Kids Birthday Collection, available at SimplyBettyStamps.com.

Don't forget to link your creation to the Challenge blog, to be in with a chance of winning some awesome Simply Betty Stamps.  You might want to pop over to SimplyBettyStamps.com now to pick up a few digital images before they retired tonight.

Have a wonderful weekend

A Spoon Full of Sugar

This week The Stamping Boutique is sponsoring A Spoon Full of Sugar, so I decided to play along.  The Challenge is nice and simple, it's a colour challenge, White + One other colour...
For my card I chose to use the 20/40 image from The Stamping Boutique.  This is such a fun image to work with, and can be coloured in so many different ways.  I decided to use shades of yellow on my card, colouring my image with a mixture of yellow Letraset Promarkers, and some Mustard Seed Distress Ink.

I used plain white card stock for my card base, and then cut a slightly smaller piece of card stock, which i embossing before applying Distress Ink.  I added my background layer to the card blank, then added my image with some foam pads for dimension.  I then added some Distress Ink to the edges of the card, before distressing a ticket sentiment, and adding it to my card.

The card turned out to be a little more distressed than I had envisaged, but I kind of like it; I love the bright yellow, so cheery, works so well with this image, and the texture from the embossing really adds some interest.

I love working with a limited colour palette, so this card was great fun to create, think i might try a few more monochromatic cards.

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you have time to join in the challenge too

It's a Burton Zombie!!!

We have a fun challenge for you today at the Burtonesque Dolls, continuing on in the Zombie spirit... what would a Burton Zombie look like?  Hmmm.. I know that man is capable of thinking up some awesome Zombie characters we would all love to keep!  So, today we have a simple challenge... Give us your Burtonest Zombie creation!

For my card I chose to use the very cheeky London from the Zombie Teens Collection available at SiimplyBettyStamps.com.  I think she's a little peckish, and It looks like the poor puddy cat is one the menu, Mee-oow indeed.  My card is fairly simple, I chose a colour palette of black, orange and green, and used a mixture of card and papers from my stash.  I love this dotty ribbon that I bought recently (in the bargain bucket) at my LCS.
Hope you'll find time to play along with the BDolls, you have until May 15th to add your project to the challenge post, and there is a great prize up for grabs, 2 Zombie Teen Stamps of the winners choice, cool or what!

A Magical Monday Birthday Wish

It's Monday already, so time to play along with another Magical Monday Challenge over at There's Magic in the Air.  This week's challenge is a nice simple one, all you have to do is create a Birthday Card/Project.  What could be more fun?
Now What's a Birthday without Birthday Cake, rather boring I think, so my card this week feature this very bright and yummy looking Party Cake image from Paper Cupcakes. I decided I want to make a rather bright card, and I love the polka dots on the cake image, so I used some Echo Park Summer Days Paper from my stash for the background, i then embossed some yellow card with a funky retro circle embossing folder.  I added some ribbon along with a die cut banner to which i added some alphabet stickers and a little written sentiment.  I die cut my Cake image before colouring it with Letraset Promarkers.

I hope you have as much fun with your Birthday Projects as I did with mine, and I can't wait to see them.
Have a wonderful Monday
