Christmas LIghts with Oddball Art Stamps

Today I'd like to share with you a couple of pages from my Art Journal that I did for the ongoing challenge over at the Oddball Art Stamps Challenge Blog.  I've done a quick step by step tutorial for you all to show how my pages came to life.

Our theme this month is 'Christmas Lights', and you can interpret this however you wish, but we'd love you to share with us you an explanation of your interpretation, if it's not obvious. You still have a couple of days to upload your entries before we launch our January challenge.

Here are my finished Art Journal Pages;

I used the wonderful 'Christmas Elf with long list image #353' and 'The Ghost with the most image #304'

Now here's how I created my pages;
A few months ago I created the background with Acrylic paints, an old store card/gift card, some bottle tops and other bits and bobs.  I had no plan, just had fun playing with the paints, however it's perfect for this project.  So the first thing I did for this project was to draw in some large triangles to later become my Christmas Trees.

Next I adding a layer of Gesso to my background.

Next I painted the sky with a dark blue paint, and added some green paint to the trees, to define them more and add some depth.

The next step was to print out my images, cut them out and adhere them to my pages. I add the images to my pages with fluid matte medium, and added a coat over the whole page.

I printed my sentiment out with my Dymo Labelmaker using clear tape, then added it to my page with more matte medium.

Next I started to paint the main images, and added some more colour to the trees.

Next I painted the rest of the main images, before adding details to one of the trees.  I used thin metallic tape for my candles, then orange and yellow fluid enamel elements for the flames, followed by various colours for the baubles.

To finish my pages I added some shading with my Faber-Castell PITT Pens.  I used a Fudesball pen to add some details to the main images.  A Glittered Foam Star to the tree along with lots of Icicle Glitter Glue on the ground and dots to represent falling snow.

Here's a few close ups;
