Something Pretty from Polkadoodles

Today I'd like to share with you a Christmas Card you may have already seen; That is if you watch Create & Craft TV.  It's a rather pretty card featuring the beautiful Poinsetta Stamps drawn by the multi-talented Nikky Hall.  If your looking for a beautiful stamp set to add to your Christmas Stash then this could be the one, it features a large poinsetta stamp, a medium poinsetta stamp (which decoupages perfectly over the larger stamp) along with 3 leaf stamps and 2 sentiments.  These are quality clear polymer stamps produced by Premium Art Brands a company that prides itself in producing high artist quality products for both artists and crafters.

I coloured the beautiful Poinsettas and leaves with my Graph'It Markers using the following colours.
Poinsettas - 1130, 5240, 5245, 5250 8150
Leaves - 8150, 8160, 8180.
The patterned papers are from the Angelberry Christmas CD by Polkdoodles.
The ribbon and doily came from my stash.

If you've not tried the Graph'It Markers, but love Alcohol Markers why not play along with the current Graph'It Marker Challenge to be in with a chance of winning some of these awesome pens; once you've tried them you'll love them, I know I do!

Thank you for visiting with me today,
Hope you'll be back again soon

SNS Design Team Throwdown - August

The SNS DESIGN TEAM THROWDOWN  has moved to a blog... so more people can join in and vote for the entries without first becoming a member of the Smeared and Smudged forum
 ( although you are always welcome to become a member if you want too, more deets on the blog).

You can find the Design Team Throwdown HERE.

This month the challenge theme is OLD AND GREY, picked by the winners of July, QUOTH THE RAVEN. Congrats girls, you did a fantastic job.

I'm honoured to be part of the Airless Chambers Team representing the very talented Rick. St. Dennis.
I decided to alter a magazine file for my project.  My main aim was to create something that would look like old stone or rocks.

The first step of my project was to paint the magazine file, first with silver acrylic, I then added a layer of black acrylic using bubble wrap to apply my paint, followed by a layer of white acrylic using the same technique.

I then selected my images and coloured them with my Graph'It Markers, I used the Neutral Greys for the Castles and Ruins.

 Side One - featuring Haunted Castles Ghostly Tower and Going Going Gone
 Back - featuring the Skull Arch which is Exclusive to the Haunted Places 1 sheet of Rubberstamps drawn by Rick St. Dennis Exclusively for the Smeared Ink Rubber Club. I also used the Borne Aloft Mother of Dragon image.

Side Two - featuring Treason and The last of Mordred's Lair.

Front - featuring Frost Dragon 3.

I adhered all the images with PVA Glue, and then coated the whole magazine file with some Black Lava Acrylic Medium to add some final textures.  Here's a few close ups, so you can see the details of these wonderful images.

 I hope you like my project as much as I do.  To see what the rest of the Airless Chambers Team created, head over to the Airless Chambers Blog to take a peek.  The challenges finishes tomorrow night and voting starts at the Design Team Throwdown Blog on Wednesday.  So please check out all the entries and cast your vote on Wednesday.

My Beautiful Girl with Red Hair

Yiphee It's Friday again, and time for a new challenge over at the Graph'It Markers Blog. Did you get chance to play along last week?  I did, Wasn't it fun trying to find ways to colouring something 'White', not an easy task, but definitely fun, and a great way to learn more about my Graph'It Markers.

This week's challenge theme is  'Red Hair' - nice and simple, add some sort of character to your project with luscious red locks; any shade of red, from pale auburn to firehouse red; just remember to use some sort of alcohol markers to colour your image.

Here's My Beautiful Girl with Red Hair;
I couldn't resist colouring the beautiful 'Sweater Socks Fairy' from Saturated Canary.  I really do love Saturated Canary images, and they are perfect for a hair colouring challenge, as they always have such beautiful hair. The hardest decision i find when using a Saturated Canary image is deciding which one to use!!

I used the following Graph'It Markers to colour my image;
Skin - 4110, 4125, 4145, 4155, 4170, 5110
Hair - 5210, 5240, 5245, 5270
Outfit and Eyes - 7240, 7250, 7260
Wings - 1170, 2105, 2110, 5210, 5240, 7240, 0000 + Sakura Clear Stardust Pen

I used patterned papers from Echo Park's So Happy Together Paper Pad, paired up with some red card stock and turquoise chevron ribbon.  I used the Scalloped Borders Two dies from Spellbinders to add a decorative edge to my paper and card stock.  The sentiment is from My Mind's Eye Find Your Wings and Fly - Up and Away Alpha & Word Stickers set.

I hope you'll have time to get your Alcohol Markers out and play along with our challenge, we'd love to see you version of Red Hair, remember to hop over to the Graph'It Markers Blog to get full details of our challenge, and to see the beautiful creations from the rest of the design team.

That's the question my card is asking today?  Is it looking like Christmas near you? I certainly seem to be making a few Christmas cards at the moment, so for me it's looking very festive.

My card features the super cute Snowpeep Kurt drawn by Tracey Malnofski and produced in gorgeous red rubber by Unity Stamp Company.

I teamed him up with some patterned papers from Bo Bunny's Mistletoe Collection, along with some green mirri card and a few red pearls.

We're off to see the Wizard....

It's time for a new challenge over at Movie Magic Monthly, and this month we are celebrating the wonderful cinematic creation that is The Wizard of Oz.

I don't think there are many people out there who haven't seen the Wizard of Oz and fallen in love with Dorothy, Toto, Tin Man, Scarecrow & The Cowardly Lion.  Such a truly scary wicked witch too.  Definitely one of my favourites.

Here's my card inspired by the film;

I used the super cute 'Anya Dorothy' (retired) digital stamp from The Greeting Farm. I printed her onto Ultimate Graphic 160gsm paper from Polkadoodles. She is coloured with the following Graph'It Markers;
Skin; 4125, 4145, 4155, 4170, 5110
Hair; 3130, 3140, 3150
Dress; 7125, 7130, 9100, 0000
Shoes; 5240, 5245
Toto; 3210, 3270, 3290
Background; 1180, 1250, 3210, 7125, 7130, 8280,  and Mix It' Fluid

The background papers are digital papers from the Emerald City Digital Paper Pack from SassyDesigns.
The sentiment is created with Tim Holtz Label Letter Stickers. To embellish I added some Heart Washi Tape.

I had so much fun working on this card, such a great image to colour, and the Ultimate Graphic paper is heaven to colour on. This really was a work of heart.

Summer Sunshine with Graph'It Markers

It's the end of another week, so time for a brand new challenge over at the Graph'It Markers Blog.  I'm having such fun working with the Graph'It Markers; you'd think all Alcohol Markers would be the same, but they are not.  The Graph'It Markers are very quickly becoming a firm favourite with me; I love how vibrant the colours are, how well they blend, and the quality of the nibs is outstanding.  I love the Mix'It Fluid and palette too; definitely need to play with them more, but i'm loving the effects i've achieved so far.

Onto this week's challenge theme, which is 'Summer Sunshine' - we want to see you embracing bright sunshiny shades of Yellow and Orange.

For my card this week I chose the beautiful 'Starla' by Saturated Canary to be the star of my project;

I decided to try a different skin tone this week, to go with the bright orange hair and yellow and orange outfit.
I love how it turned out, here's the colours I used;
Skin; 2160, 3210, 3255, 3270
Hair; 0000, 2150, 2160, 2170, 2180, 3210, 4175
Outfit; 1150, 1170, 1180, 2150, 2160, 2170, 2180
Background; 0000, 3210, 8220, 8260, 8280

I used papers from Bo Bunny's Hello Sunshine paper pad.  I added some white punchinella (laser mesh) behind my image for some added texture.  I die cut a Sizzix Instant Frame with my Framelits and some MFT Stars.  My sentiment is created with October Afternoon Alphabet Stickers.  You might have noticed I have a weakness for Alphabet Stickers, such a quick and easy way of adding exactly the right sentiment for you projects.

Now I suggest you hop over to the Graph'It Markers Blog, to get full details of our challenge, and to check out the awesome creations from the rest of the design team.

I used a White Sakura Soufflee Pen to add some highlights to her eyes, and for her teeth.

Freebie Saturday with Rick St.Dennis

It's the start of a new month, so it's Freebie Saturday with Rick St.Dennis MFA.  Today i'd like to share with you my project featuring the awesome freebie you can get from the Airless Chambers Blog.  This wee monster is Twoki, isn't he adorable, if you like monsters!!

Twoki is coloured with Graph'It Markers in shades of Sunshine Yellow, Spanish Orange, with a little Submarine and Steel Blue for his Eyes and Flower.  I chose papers from the Pebbles 'Sunny Side' Paper Pad to go with this super wee monster.

To embellish my card I added some dotty yellow ribbon, along with a Sunny Heart Stick Pin and sentiment. To finish it all off I added some rather monstrous flowers!!

Definitely a cute monster rather than scary wee monster, head over to Airless Chambers to grab your copy of him, and check out the super scary projects from the rest of the EDT.

You'll also find a freebie on the Sparkle and Glitter Blog, I'll be sharing my project featuring her tomorrow.
