Shades of Grey with Premium Craft Brands

It's Sunday again and time to get Creative and Crafty with a new Premium Craft Brands Pan Pastel UK Challenge.  I can't think of anything better than grabbing some Pan Pastels, card and maybe a mask, stamp, embossing folder or two and spending a couple of hours just playing around seeing what appears in front of my eyes.

Our challenge theme this week is 'Shades of Grey', create something with a few shades of grey on it, you can add a splash of other colours, but we want to see grey as your predominant colour.

Here's what I came up with;
I saw a preview of this image the other day, and had to get her, she's called 'Mae Antoinette' and she's a new release over at Some Odd Girl, isn't she divine.  I used the following Graph'It Markers to colour her;
Hair - 5110, 5115, 5130, 9501, 9503, 0000
Skin - 4120, 4125, 4150, 5110, 5115, 9501, 9503
Eyes - 7140, 7145, 7155
Outfit - 9501, 9503, 9505, 0000.

I decided to create my own background papers for this card.  For the first paper, I took a chequered mask and taped it to some white card, before sponging some Black Pan Pastel over it.  I then spread a layer of Maimeri Glossy Gel medium over the whole thing, before removing the mask, and drying with my crafty buddy heat tool, once I was happy that the gel was nearly dry, I put it to one side to cool.  If your going to dry your medium with a heat tool, make sure to use a low heat setting, and not to over heat an one area, as the gel may bubble (you can get some cool effects, but if you want it nice and smooth, go easy with the heat).

For my second paper, I took some white card, and embossed it with a rose embossing folder. Then I sponged on some Black Pan Pastel.  I wanted a graduate paper, so I started with more colour and pressure at the top of the paper, and as I moved down, I eased off the pressure, and used the remaining colour on the sponge.  I went over the paper a couple of times, each time starting at the top to get the intense colour there, and blending with a circular motion to the bottom of the paper until I was happy with my level of colour.  Once I was happy, I sealed my paper with a good spray of Extra Strong Hold Hairspray.

Before putting the Pan Pastel and sponge away, I sponged the edges of my main image.  I then matted my image and patterned papers onto some black card.

Assembling the card was nice and simple.  I took an 8 x 8 inch white card blank, and cut a piece of black card to cover the bottom 3/4s of the card.  Onto this I adhered my chequered paper, and then my rose paper using foam pads to give some dimension.  Using a double layer of foam pads I added my main image, and then it was time for a little bit of bling.

I added some black rose washi tape, along with a damask pink washi tape to the top of my card, to add a little more colour to the background.  I then added some black glitter flourish stickers, along with a few black and grey gems.

Like a lot of my cards, I didn't add a sentiment, if I'm not sure what sentiment to add, I leave it. It is always easy enough to add a sentiment at a later date, when I know who I'm giving the card too. Some card never get a sentiment on the front, as I like to look on them a mini works of art, and sometimes words are not required.

I hope you like today's creation, and that you'll have time to join in our challenge.  Remember you don't need lots of supplies to join us, on this card I used 1 Pan Pastel, and a few pens.  The important thing is to have fun!

Thank you for visiting with me today
Happy Crafting
