Keep Calm and Drink Tea with The Cutting Cafe

This week at The Cutting Cafe we are featuring some super cute little gift sets.  You know those little things you like to send to friends just to cheer them up, and let them know your thinking and care about them.

For my project I created this cute little Tea Bag Holder.  It was really quick and easy to make, which is just the sort of thing I like, as I've never been very good at 3D construction work, my brain doesn't handle dimensions very well!!  I chose a pretty patterned paper for my Tea Bag Holder, and then added some ribbon to the inside before inserting a piece of coordinating card stock to strengthen the whole thing.
I kept the front of my Tea Bag Holder very clean and simple, just stamping the 'Keep Calm and Drink Tea' sentiment directly onto it.

Here you can see the inside, I made sure when cutting the template to have my pattern at the bottom of the piece of paper so once it was folded over it created a pretty detail on the inside of the holder.  I also rounded the corners of this bottom piece before sticking it down, just to help create a nice line.

All that was left for me to do was to add some Tea Bags.  What better Tea to choose than the Queen's favourite Twinnings.  I have to say it was a happy accident that my patterned paper happened to match the colour of the Tea Bag Packets, rather serendipitous me thinks!!

Don't forget to hop over to The Cutting Cafe Blog to see the awesome Gift Set created by the rest of the DT.

Bye for now

You'll find him along with lots of other wonderful gory ghoulish halloween images in the Halloween Section of Rick St. Dennis' Etsy Store.

Our theme for Challenge #2 Sweet or Spooky Halloween; we want to see your halloween creations, whether you like super cute sweet images or super spooky scary images you'll find something to please you in Rick's Etsy Store.

My card features the 'Euro Clown Troupe' image from the Euro Collection of images in Rick's Etsy Store.  Not your traditional halloween image, but an image that is perfect for any fun occasion.  I was going for a Sweet Halloween card, so used lots of fun papers from Doodlebug and ATD Momenta.  I coloured my clowns to coordinate with my papers giving each one it's own unique outfit.  I fussy cut my image and added it to my card with some foam pads for a little dimension.  To finish my card I added a couple of fun puffy Halloween sentiment embelishments along with a couple of cute little black bats.

So What do you think? Is it Sweet or Spooky?  I think it turned out pretty Sweet with a little twist of spooky!!  To see lots of Sweet and Spooky creations by the rest of Rick's EDT visit the Sparkle and Glittler Challenge Blog, where your senses will be overloaded with Halloween fun!! Be careful tho, some of the creations are rather frightening!!

Randi Dandi RIKKI Rocks!!

Yes RIKKI does Rock! She's one of the images in the new Randi Dandi Collection of images available at Rick St. Dennis's Etsy Store.  Isn't she glorious!! She was so much fun to colour, and so full of character.  She is coloured with a mix of Letraset Promarkers & Flexmarkers with the addition of a little white gel pen in her eyes.

For my background I used a piece of patterned paper from Prima's Rosarian Paper Pad, I love this patchwork patterned paper.  As the paper is so fabulous and colourful, I wanted to keep the rest of my card fairly simple.  I added some black lace and pink patterned ribbon to a thin piece of cardstock, which I then layered onto my card.

I love how the ruffled lace mimics the collar on her blouse, and of course I love her bright pink hair. She looks like she's got a rather interesting past, for some reason I think of her as an aging french lady of the night!! No idea why, but I guess that's just the way my mind works, by the time I've finished colouring most images, I have a whole back story for  the character!

I do hope you like RIKKI, you'll find her along with her friends in the Randi Dandi section of Rick's Store.

By the Way you still have just under 24 hours to enter the first challenge at Sparkle and Glitter the Rick St. Dennis Challenge Blog; It's Anything Goes, so why not join in on the fun.

That's all from me for today,

Something Spooky for Saturday!!

It's Spooky Saturday and Rick St Dennis has lots of fun and games, and giveaways on his blog, and facebook group: Rick St. Dennis Digi Fans and Friends today.

I thought I'd get into the Spooky mood too, and share a card with you today featuring one of Rick's beautiful images.

Isn't she stunning, I coloured her with Letraset Promarkers, using mainly colours from the Limited Edition Spring and Winter Sets.

I saw this paper online and had to get it, and it's so beautiful in real life, so I kept the rest of my card very simple.

I matted my paper on to a black glossy card blank, created a couple of punch panels with my spiderweb border and corner punches, to which i added my image, and some ribbon.

I die cut a spider out of silver mirri card, and added some black pearls for it's body.

To finish my card I went with one of my favourite quotes from Sir Walter Scott " Oh! What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!"

There is still time to join in the fun at the Rick St Dennis Digi Fans and Friends group, so why not pop over and join us to add some Spookiness to your Saturday;

Sparkle and Glitter the Rick St Dennis Challenge Blog's First Challenge is Live!!

The day has arrived - the first EVER Sparkle and Glitter with Rick St Dennis Challenge, brought to you by the EDT of Rick St Dennis MFA! A group of people gathered together as a team by the artist himself. I have to say I'm very honoured to have been chosen for Rick's Elite Design Team, not only do I get to work with some truly inspiring images, but some wonderful artists too.

We were blown over by you all visiting us last weekend and snagging those 2 fabulous images that Rick offered free for the 2 days. Thank you so much for you lovely comments and support, now onto business..

What’s the challenge for the next two weeks?   A big favourite of many ...

There will be one winner chosen at random for one of the prizes. In addition to this, there will be a top 3 chosen by the EDT and the awards don’t stop there.  There will be Rick St Dennis, himself, choosing one lucky person to be awarded the coveted badge “Rick’s Pick” and associated prize.
For our first ever challenge, we are also honoured by having the sponsorship of the lovely Teri of
.  Another Banner, but more elegant!
Teri has generously offered to donate the choice of 4 images from her shop to the prize winner.

My First Card features the Showgirl image by  Rick St Dennis MFA

My Second Card features Rosalee from Delicious Doodles.

Both images are coloured with Letraset Alcohol Markers. I chose the bright zesty colour scheme as i wanted my cards to be bright cheerful and flamboyant; I think they work. I added lots of glitter and bling to the beautiful Showgirl, along with some feathers to capture the essence of her wonderful outfit.  The glitter and bling on Rosalee is a little more subtle,  I used Sakura Stardust pens on the roses to make them sparkle.

Want some more inspiration, then you need to visit the Challenge Blog to see the truly beautiful creations by the rest of Rick's EDT, the challenge runs until the 18th October, so you've plenty of time to join in and get all Glittery and Sparkly.

Fun with Owls and The Cutting Cafe

This week at The Cutting Cafe we got to choose a product to work with, not an easy task, as The Cutting Cafe is full of wonderful cutting files and Printable Stamp Sets.  I decided to have a browse and it didn't take me long to fall in love with the adorable 'Fun with Owls' Printable Stamp Set.  The set contains 31 images and 27 sentiments, all for less than $5, That's got to be a good bargain wherever your from.  I'm sure you'll find an Owl and sentiment for every occasion in the set.

I chose to use this cute image featuring 4 Owls in their party hats; I love how they all have a different character, and the sentiment just made me giggle.  I coloured my image with a mix of Letraset Promarkers, Flexmarkers and Tria pens.  My background papers are from a Bo Bunny summery paper pad, which i thought went well with the image to create this zesty fun card.  With so much colour and pattern in the paper and image I decided against any other embellishments, just using some foam pads to add dimension to my card.

I'm sure this card with make anyone smile, I certainly had fun making it.  Don't forget to check out the Inspiration post at The Cutting Cafe Blog today to see the awesome creations from the rest of the DT, I'm sure you'll find lots to inspire you.

DICC #39 - Floppy Latte

It's the start of a new month, so time for another Desert Island Crafters Challenge; hard to believe it's October already.  Definitely one of my favourite months, so full of beautiful colours and spooky goings on.

Our new challenge is sponsored by:

The winner will receive a $10.00 gift certificate to the Floppy Latte Designs store - and if they happened to have used a FLD image in their creation, FLD will increase the prize!

Here's our new itinerary:

1. Candles
2. Full Moons
3. Bats or Owls
4. Creepy Crawlies (spiders, snakes, bugs, etc.)
5. Silhouettes
6. Coffins or tombstones
7. Purple
8. Witch(es)
9. Ink or paint splatters
10. Silver or Gold

Here's my card;
I used the adorable Dracowla for my creation. Isn't he wonderful, and such fun to colour.  I coloured my image with a mix of Letraset Promarkers and Flexmarkers.

My background  is a diecut i created using a free svg file from The Free SVG Blog; they have some wonderful files, you can download them for free, or for $5 they'll email you them all. The Files are definitely worth $5 in my personal opinion.

I layered my diecut onto some silver mirri card, which i layered onto black cardstock before adding to my white card blank.  I added some purple organza ribbon as a frilly edging, along with a bottle cap and a few black pearl pins.  To finish my creation I added a few die cut cats and a die cut mouse.

I hope you'll have time to play along with our challenge at DICC, you've got until Midnight October 14th to link up your project.

Thanks for visiting with me today
