It's almost time for the next release at the Pixie Dust Studio, and this one is sooooo pretty, one of my favourite childhood memories is being taken to the ballet to see 'The Nutcracker', I'm not sure how old i was, because i don't remember much of the story, but i do remember the wonderful characters and the beautiful dancing. So you can imagine my delight when i saw 'The Nutcracker' collection of images from Pixie Dust Studio, everyone brought back wonderful memories.
My Card today feature's the adorable 'Claire' with her nutcracker. I decided i wanted to make a very pretty card with this image, so i decided to focus on pretty pastel colours. I used papers from the 'Sweet Nothings' Paper pack by Papermania, along with a die cut sentiment and star paper i got free with a magazine.
I paper pieced Claire's outfit, using my light box to trace the outline of her dress onto my patterned paper. You could if you wanted print Claire onto your patterned paper, and then simply cut her outfit out, but i prefer to use just a scrap of paper for the outfit, and then the rest of the sheet as part of my background design ( I hate to waste pretty paper). I then coloured Claire with prismacolour pencils. I die cut a scalloped rectangle to layer my image onto, and before adding my image, I added a cloud of pink pencil, which i blended, to create a nice glow behind my image.
I die cut a ribbon tag from cardboard and the pink paper, and then added the diecut sentiment to it with foam pads, before threading a piece of pink ribbon through it and adding it to my card . To finish my card off I scattered some pastel pearls, to give the impression of sweet candy snow (not sure if that makes sense!)
Thank you for visiting with me today, and don't forget to visit the rest of the Pixies, to see what pretty previews they have for you.
