I'd like to share with you a card i've made for a couple of challenges, the first challenge is the Friends Having Fun: Colour Challenge#2, this month the colours are Deep Turquoise, Terracotta and Lemon Chiffon, a very interesting mix.
The second challenge is this weeks Pixie Dust Challenge, which is to use Kraft paper/card (or similar) on your project. For my card i chose to use the 'Ma & Pa' image from the newly released 'On the Prairie' collection.
The main thing i wanted to do with my card was to use twine in the background, to give a rustic feel; so i decided to create a laced effect background. I created a card base from my Kraft card, then added a strip of lemon card, and a strip of turquouise to give the impression of the sky and desert. I then took coordinateing eyelets and created holes for my lacing, i set the eyelets and then laced my twine through, finishing with a nice bow at the end. I added a glue dot to the centre of the bow, this kept it in position on my card.
For the focal point of my card i created a heart shaped tag from Kraft card (using the largest heart nestie as a template). I then printed my 'Ma & Pa' image out twice once for the background, and a second on for the main image. Using the same heart nestie, i draw a heart around my image, i then cut the heart out, and where the image overlapped i cut around it's outline. Then using distress ink, i sponge my background to create a warm terracotta colour, with a hint of yellow on the edges. I then took my main image, coloured it with my promarkers, and then cut it out, before adhering it to the heart shaped background i'd created. I added a couple of eyelets to the tag, and then secured it with twine to my card base.
I enjoyed combining these challenges, as the colour challenge worked perfectly with the 'On the Prairie' image. The perfect combination I think. You have the rest of May to take part in the Friends Having Fun Colour Challenge. The Pixie Dust Kraft Challenge is open until next Wednesday evening. Hope you have fun with both challenges.
Thank you for visiting with me:)
