It's finally here, the first challenge over at the awesome Oh, Alice! Challenge Blog; and what a brilliant challenge it is, we were given this amazing inspiration piece....
Isn't that the coolest make-up set you've seen!!
For my inspiration i focused on the mushrooms, and the pretty purple and green eyeshadows. I knew i wanted to create a scene on my card, but i wanted it to be a little different, so i search through my paper stash and came across this lovely candy striped paper from Doodlebug.
First of all i create my card blank, using a lovely piece of purple pearlescent cardstock to make an A5 card; I then trimmed the doodlebug paper slightly smaller than my card for the main background. Taking a piece of white card and a scrap of the stripy paper, i cut the paper to give the impression of a small hill, and stuck this to the bottom of the white paper. I then stamped the circles in the sky (Bo Bunny - Urban Acrylic Stamps), to represent the cheshire cats' eyes and nose. I stamped a selection of mushrooms onto white paper (from TGF - Wonderland Set) and one of the gorgeous Miss Anya's (from TGF - Miss Anya Dressy).
I then set about colouring my background, and my stamped images. I used Prismacolour Artstix for this project, as they let you get lots of colour onto your paper, without require alot of pressure; i blended them with odourless spirits and a paper stump. Once i'd coloured and trimmed all my pieces, i played around with the layout until i was happy with the overall composition. I then raided my stash of paper flowers and pearls, and created a little flower garden at the bottom of my card. To finish it all off i stamped the 'Wonderful' sentiment (TGF - Wonderland Set).
I'm really pleased with this card, and very happy to have finally got it finished; I started work on it at the weekend, and had hoped to finish it yesterday, but i wasn't well so had to spend the day in bed. As i couldn't finish my Alice card yesterday, i decided to read the book instead, i'm ashamed to say i don't think i'd ever read it all before; very glad i've remedied that situtation, going to read Through the Looking Glass next :)
