Today is the first day of the CHA Relay Contest at The Greeting Farm, each day you have to make a card with a specific free digistamp, we were given a head start yesterday when we received Mer Ian. You'll have no idea how long i've been waiting to see a Mer Ian, so i was over the moon when is set eyes on him.
I had no problems coming up with an idea for this card, as i've had the idea of a Mer Family card in my head for ages. So i copied and flipped Mer Ian, and printed him out in two different sizes; I played around with his hair on the smaller print outs, to create 4 adorable little merkids.
I stamped the background scene onto watercolour paper, and watercoloured it; adding some prismacolour pencils for extra depth. I coloured my Merfolks with a base of promarkers, and then added shading to them with my prismacolour pencils. I like combining different mediums, as it helps to create different textures and more depth. The rest of the card was simple, just a matter of cutting my Merfolks out and layering them onto my background. To finish the card off i added the sentiment, which i thought went lovely with the image of the playing merkids, just in case your wondering, Mermaid Anya has gone out shopping, tehe!!
You can still get the Mer Ian stamp over at The Greeting Farm Blog (in yesterday's post), and you can join in the relay, but you must have your card uploaded to The Greeting Farm Galleria before 6pm CST (Check out The Greeting Farm Blog for full details)
Thank you for visiting, and pop back later to see my card for Day #2 of the relay
