This weeks Fresh Farm Friday Challenge over at The Greeting Farm is a fun one, you gotta get punchy, and use atleast 2 different punches on your card. A nice simple challenge, open to loads of different interpretations.
Well firstly, i remembered from a previous challenge, that dies count as punches, so to start my project i die cut a maple leaf out of my card blank. I then lined the card first with a piece of pattern paper to show through the die cut shape, and then a sheet of orange cardstock to make the inside look nice and neat; before adding the orange cardstock i used a leaf border punch to create a decorative edge along the bottom edge of the card.
I then took a strip of orange cardstock and using the border punch created a paper ribbon which i stuck just above the decorative edge on the card base. I decided that for the rest of the background of my card i wanted to create the effect of falling leaves, so i took all the tiny leaf die cuts from the border punched leftovers and added them onto a sheet of micro glue dots, and then stuck them on the card.
Then i got to the really fun bit, time to get stamping; for this card i wanted to use my new Miss Anya stamps, so i chose 'Miss Rain' from the Rain, Snow, Shine set, and an Anya from the original Miss Anya set. I inked them up using brown memento ink, as i wanted to get a softer look to the stamped image; i quite like the softer effect the brown ink gives with this colour scheme, amazing how just changing the ink colour can give the stamped images a completely different feel.
I decided to colour the stamped images with my coloured pencils and blend with odourless blender spirits; this isn't a technique i use very often, but it worked well for creating the soft look i wanted for this card. I had stamped the images onto a pearlescent white cardstock, so even before colouring the images had a lovely shine too them; the only problem with this is that it doesn't photograph well, so i apologise for the sub standard photos.
Once coloured i stuck the images to the card base, the first Miss Anya i stuck flat, and then i popped Miss Rain onto foam pads to give a little dimension and depth to the card.
Finally i stamped the sentiment from the Hello Go Round set, and using a circle punch i cut it out, and i also cut a circle out of orange cardstock. The orange circle was stuck flat to the card, and i popped the sentiment onto foam pads to give it depth.
I'm really pleased with how this card turned out, it looks so much better in real life than in the photos, think i need to play around with my lighting and camera to try and improve the photos a bit for you all :)
