So i had to ink Ian up and get creating. What is the best way to get your crafting mojo flowing? A Challenge, that's my answer to the question, and what's better than one challenge, but two. So i decided to have a go at the Diedrich Dare, which this week is a colour challenge, the chosen colours being green, orange and blue. I also decided to use this weeks sketch from Splitcoaststampers.

I stamped Ian with memento black ink and coloured him with my prismacolour pencils. The papers are DCWV, from the retro and teen stacks. The white card is from my local paper mill, and has a wonderful pearlescent sheen in real life. I followed the sketch pretty closely, altho i added and extra panel of background paper to the final layer, as i felt it needed a little more of the orangey/red pattern. I stuck my layers down and then decided to add some green staples as an extra touch, it needed something and i wanted something that wasn't going to look girly lol. The two main layers are mounted on foam pads to give the card some dimension.

I'm quite pleased with how this has worked out, as i usually struggle to get light into my cards, and i think i've got the balance between the white cardstock and patterned papers right on this card.

I had fun with both of these challenges, definately not my normal colour choice, but it was great fun and gave me a chance to make a masculine card, and to use up some more paper from my stash. I like this layout too, so i'm sure i'll use this sketch again. All in all a fun way to spend my afternoon :)
