New Beginnings with Graph'It Challenges

Welcome to the first of our brand new challenges at Graph'It Challenge!

As we are a brand new team and a brand new blog we thought
would be a great place to start for all of us!

And as Graph'It are also quite new we thought we would all learn together by challenging the team to use just 7 colours in our palette of markers this week...(of course you can use as many as you wish!)....

So how does this challenge work we hear you ask? Well, we challenge you to use a theme of New Beginnings...this can be a new baby, new home, new job, new stash or even a birthday because that is the start of a new year...the choice is yours!

Now onto my project;
For my card I used the beautiful 'Sabrina' image by Saturated Canary, I paired it with papers and dies cuts from Kaisercraft's Remember Me Paper Pad.
To colour my image I used the following Graph'It Markers;
1140 - Vanilla
1230 - Sahara
1280 - Mustard
3140 - Teak
3160- Chocolate
4135 - Powder
5210 - Coral.

For the Skintones I used;
4110 - Almond
4135 - Powder
4155 - Skin.

To embellish my card I added some red heart washi tape and yellow paper roses.

Now why don't you hop over to the Graph'It Blog to see the beautiful creations from the rest of the Design Team, and to get full details on how to enter our challenge, and the awesome prize you can win.

Thank you for visiting with me today

Smeared inks Design team throwdown # 6 Dance Macabre

So excited to finally show you my project for the new Design Team Throwdown challenge organized by Smeared Ink, check out all details here.

Team Airless Chambers won the last challenge, and I'm very excited to be joining the Team for this new challenge.

Because the winners have to choose the next challenge theme we came up with "Dance macabre", such a fun theme, I can't wait to see what everyone has created, I know I had a wonderful time creating my project.

For my project I created a mobile of macabre ballet dancers and the Grim Reaper himself.

Rick drew these awesome Grotesque Dancer Art Dolls for my project.

You can get you hands on them for a limited time at a special price, you'll find them here.

To create my dolls, I flipped all the images, and printed them out facing both directions, so that they would glue together perfectly for my project.  I coloured the images with my Graph'It Markers, before fussy cutting them all out.

I glued the arm and leg pieces together, and pierced holes for some mini brads.  I attached the arms and legs to one of the body pieces with brads, them sandwiched some metallic thread between the body pieces so i could hang them from my mobile frame.

I made tutus for my dancers from ribbon and strips of netting.  The mobile frame is a large embroidery hoop.  I tied the thread to the inner hoop, then added some glue before sandwiching the hoops together.  I then covered the hoops with some ribbon.  To finish it off i used some more ribbon to create my central hanging point.

Unfortunately the light isn't great here today, so my pictures are a little dark.  I'll try and take some more pictures tomorrow, so you can see the wonderful details on these wicked dolls.

Now I recommend you hop over to the Airless Chambers blog to see the truly awesome creations Miranda and Monique have created for this challenge.  Then visit Smeared Ink's Forum to see what the other teams have created.

Thanks for visiting with me

Stitch It! with Delicous Doodles

It's Friday again, and time for a new challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.  This week we want you to 'Stitch It!' - add some sort of stitches, sewing to your project.

For my card I used the gorgeous Zodiac - Leo image from Teri's ongoing Zodiac Collection.  I coloured this beautiful image a couple of weeks ago using my Letraset Tria and Promarkers.  My background papers are from a DCWV Earth Tone Mat Stack I've had in my stash for a while, the lovely earthy tones of these papers work beautifully with this image.  My sewing element is a very simple hand sewn frame around the image attaching the image to the mustard plaid patterned paper.

I went for a Clean and Simple look to this card, layering a couple of sheets of coordinating papers onto a white card blank, before adding my layered image.  I did think about adding some bling to the card, but my husband said he liked it as it is, and wanted it to add to his collection.  So I left it fairly plain at his request.

Want to win some of Teri's beautiful images?  It's dead easy, all you need do is play along with our challenge.  You'll find full details of the challenge, and some beautifully sewn creations from the rest of the design team.  So hop over to the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog, and leave them all some love.

Have a great day

Happy Father's Day

Today I thought i'd share with you the card I made my Dad for Father's Day.  As soon as I saw this image I knew I had to colour it, it's just so cool.  It's called Smilin Joe Skull with Roses by the awesome artist that is Rick St. Dennis MFA.
If you've not visited Rick's Etsy Store yet, then you really need to, it's packed full of well drawn interesting images, something for all tastes.

My card is pretty simple, I've used a selection of patterned papers to give a masculine patchwork effect to my background. My sentiment is Mini Market Alphabet Stickers by October Afternoon.  Embellishments?  I didn't bother, my Dad's a pretty no nonsense kinda guy, so I decided against any bling.

Thanks for visiting with me today

We have lift off!!!

I'm delighted to be able to let you all in on my little secret.  I can hardly believe it, but I was lucky enough to get a place on the Graph'it Markers Design Team.
The Design Team has just been announced, and i'm honoured to be amongst such a talented group of colourists.

Here's a pic of my first attempt with them - image is Zombie Love by Rick St. Dennis MFA
Not bad for a first go.  All I can say is the colours are vibrant, easy to blend, and a joy to use.  I can't wait to play with them more, and figure out some favourite colour combos.  I look forward to sharing my creations with you.

Goodbye Sweet Cleo

Yesterday was a very sad day for me; We had to say goodbye to Cleo our oldest cat.  I thought she had a UTI so got Stewart to take her to the vet, but unfortunately it was  more serious than that.  She'd lost a lot of weight since they'd seen her a couple of months ago, and was in more pain.  So we decided it was time to let her go and be at peace.

Cleo joined my family in October 1998,  I'd moved into my own flat earlier in the year and needed a companion.  As I worked full-time then, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to get a Cat, I'd wanted one for years, and finally the time was right.  My parents and I went to our local pet shelter, as I wanted a Cat who needed a home, and a second chance.  Whilst Mum and I was looking at a cute little noisy cat, my Dad pointed out Cleo, who was then called Smokey, sitting very quietly in her cage.  As soon as I saw her, I knew she was the one.

Cleo loved to play, especially if it was Pink or Red and Furry.  She's killed a few poor pink mice over the years, and she loved her orange goldfish on a string.

Cleo was a very special cat, she brought so much love to my life, at a time when i felt very alone, she was always there, and would cuddle with me for hours.  If she was cold i'd put her into my cardigan, zip it up and she'd fall asleep on my chest purring away, so happy.  At night she would sleep on my hip, keeping a watch over me as I slept, and giving me great comfort.

She was a cheeky wee soul too, bringing  me toy mice at 3am whilst i tried to sleep; I'd throw the mouse into the hall, and she'd bring it back a couple of minutes later.  She loved to see what I was eating, her favourites being anything cheesy and chicken.

I am so blessed to have had Cleo in my life for the last 15 years, she was a very shy, and mistreated wee cat when i first got her, and she bloomed into a beautiful loving companion.

My heart is sad, cos she'd gone, but I'm happy in the knowledge I gave her a good home, and she's not in  pain anymore.  I'm sure she's up in heaven, playing with Bagpuss and tormenting some poor wee birdies.

Framed Flowers with Delicious Doodles

It's Friday so time for another fun challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.  This week's theme is all about Teri's Floral Frames, so you have to use one of Teri's beautiful Floral Frames on your project;  not got one?  Don't worry Teri has very generously added one to this weeks challenge post as a freebie, so anyone can play along with us.

For my card I used the beautiful Foxglove and Butterfly Frame.  I coloured the image with a mix off Letraset Tria and Promarkers, before stamping a sentiment from 7Gypsies.  I used some Basic Grey green patterned paper from my stash along with a green card blank.

Need to grab your freebie to play along, well you better hop over to the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog, cos that's where you'll find it.  Along with some beautiful creations from the rest of the DT.
