Lord of the Rings Rick St Dennis Style..

Today I'd like to share with you a creation inspired by Lord of the Rings featuring the beautiful Galadriel image by Rick St Dennis MFA.  I made this card for the 'Lord of the Rings Vs Harry Potter' Challenge which is ongoing over at the Movie Magic Monthly Blog.  You'll find my card and more creations using Rick's images on the Sparkle and Glitter, the Rick St Dennis EDT Blog today.

As soon as I saw this image, I knew the scene I wanted to recreate on my card, so I found the appropriate quote and printed it out onto white card stock before die cutting it with one of the Arch Window Nestibilities dies.  In the scene Galadriel falls briefly under the spell of the Ring, and shows her fiercer side, changing from her usual serene appearance, and appearing in a blue magical haze.  With that in mind I went with a blue colour scheme for this card, colouring my image with Letraset Tria and Promarkers with the addition of some silver metallic pen.  I added Broken China Distress Ink to my embossed background panel, die cut quote and my card base before layering them all up.  Galadriel is adhered with foam pads to give a little more dimension to the card.

I love how this card turned out, very clean and simple, but still quite dramatic and really showcasing the beautiful image.

Something Fishy going on at Delicious Doodles!

This week over at Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog we're exploring the depths of the oceans and the sandy shores to find 'Something Fishy' for our Challenge.  For my card I used the beautiful Marina, and coloured her with a mix of Letraset Tria and Promarkers.  Adding some Aqua metallic pen and White souffle pen for shine and highlights.

For my card I used some white card stock for my card base, then cut another piece of white card slightly smaller than my card front.  To the white card I glued a piece of lime netting, before adhering it to my card.  I then added some purple sequin waste along with my coloured image.  To finish it all off, a few staples to secure the corners of my image, and add a little grungy edge.

Make sure you hop over to the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog to check out the creations from the rest of the DT, and to find all details on how to enter the challenge and win yourself some gorgeous images.

The Deconstruction of Dali

Have you seen the awesome Dali Portrait by Rick St. Dennis MFA?  It's exclusively available from his Blog.

As soon as I saw it I knew I needed to add it to my collection.  Dali is one of my favourite artists of all time, and Rick's interpretation of him is absolute perfection in my opinion.

For my card I printed the image out 8 times, then coloured each one in a different monochromatic colourways.  Then I simply cut the images up, I stuck to squares and rectangles to keep some cohesion to my images, but other than that my cutting was pretty random, as part of my idea was to create 4 completely different versions of the image.  It took a little time, plenty of adhesive, and a fair bit of concentration to make sure I ended up with 4 complete images, with the pieces all lined up.

The rest of the card is very simple; a white card blank, with the images first layered onto black gloss card stock, the onto some white card and adhered with foam pads.

That's pretty much all there is to say about my card, just remember if you want the Dali image you need to visit Rick's Blog soon, so you don't miss it.

Anything Gothic with Delicious Doodles

Today I'd like to share with you my DT Card for the current challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.  Our theme is 'Anything Gothic'.

I used the beautiful 'Gothic Fairy' image along with Gothic Rose & Thistle Papers in Orange, Purple, Green and Hot Pink.

I coloured my image with Letraset Tria and Promarkers, with the addition of some white gel pen and cosmic shimmers inks.  I then matted my image and all the background papers onto black glossy card, before layering them all together on my card base,  I added some foam pads for dimension.

A very simple card, but with such a beautiful image, and gorgeous papers, I didn't think it needed anything else.  I hope your inspired to play along with our challenge, check out the beautiful creations from the rest of the DT over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog, and find out what you have to do to win yourself some gorgeous images to play with.

That's all from me for today, sorry my post was late, not too well at the moment, so everything is taking me longer than it should.

Pretty in Pink with Whimsy Stamps

It's time for a new challenge at Whimsy Stamps Challenge Blog, and this week it's one of my favourite themes; 'Pretty in Pink', all you have to do to join in is create a project that's got the colour Pink in it, even better if you make it pretty too!

For my card I used the perfectly title 'Pretty in Pink' image by Fairydust Images, one of this months new digital releases in the Whimsy Store. I teamed this beautiful image with some Echo Park Victorian Garden Papers, some Kraft Card, White Card, and a lovely sentiment from the Spring Letter Seals set of Rubber Stamps also from Whimsy Stamps.

The image is coloured in a mix of Letraset Tria and Promarkers, I coloured the Butterflys on the letter seal to coordinate before adding to a die cut kraft frame.  I finished my card with a few white pearls.

Want more Pink inspiration then check out the creations by the rest of the Whimsy Digital DT, and found out how you can win yourself some beautiful Whimsy Images.

Freebie Time with Rick St. Dennis...

It's the first Saturday of the month, and that means one thing, Freebie Time with Rick St. Dennis.  Who doesn't love a freebie? or two? Well Rick is spoiling us and giving us 3 Freebies this weekend, one on each of his blogs!!

Airless Chambers - Where you'll find Darker Creations from Rick and the EDT
Rick St. Dennis MFA - Where you'll find Awesome Creations and Exclusive Digis to appeal to all tastes.
Sparkle and Glitter the Rick St. Dennis EDT Blog - Where you'll find all the Cute and Pretty Creations from Rick and the EDT.

My card today features 'Art on the Brain' the awesome freebie on the Airless Chambers Blog.  I coloured the image with Letraset Tria and Promarkers, and stamped my Andy Skinner sentiment using Black Tuxedo Memento Ink.  I created my card base from some Kraft card stock and added papers from Basic Grey's Marrakesh Paper Pad. I used an EK Success Border Punch for my plaid border detail on striped paper, before matting my image onto more kraft card stock and adding it to my card.  I kept the embellishments very simple using two blue bulldog clips to attach my image to the kraft card stock, to give the impression of an image on a drawing board.

Make sure you grab the freebies this weekend as they won't be free after Sunday.  Remember to leave lots of love for Rick and the EDT Members, and join us at Rick's Facebook Group to share your creations using Ricks images.  Remember to direct your friends to the blogs to grab the freebies rather than sharing the images, cos image sharing is wrong, even if it is a freebie.

Missing You Like Crazy!!!

Today I'd like to share with you this card featuring the beautiful 'Natural Light' image by Fairydust Images available at Whimsy Stamps. I coloured the image a couple of weeks ago, but wasn't sure where i wanted to go with this card.  So I had a rummage through my paper stash and came across some K & Co papers that fitted my colour scheme; I then embossed some coordinating co-ordinations card to give some contrast and help create my background.  It took me a little longer to come up with the right sentiment, and then I came across the 'Missing you like crazy' sentiment in Whimsy's Simple Everyday Greetings set of rubber stamps. I have to say I love this set of sentiments stamps; definitely one of my best buys, so versatile and gorgeous fonts too.

Don't forget to check out the newly released digital stamps in the Whimsy Store, such a beautiful selection, your bound to find something to tempt you.  If you need inspiration, don't forget the Release Blog Hop is still ongoing, so you've still time to hop and comment for the chance to win an image or two!!

For my card today I chose to work with the new images from Moon Cookie Gallery; The Hot Air Balloons feature four wonderfully patterned balloons. Flowery Balloon, Loopy Balloon, Love Balloon and Stitched Balloon.  I printed them out in three different sizes and then just had loads of fun colouring them with my Letraset Tria and Promarkers.  I then fussy cut them before adding to my card base.  My background is a digital paper I got so long ago I can't find it's origins.  To finish my card I stamped the Good Luck sentiment from the Simple Everyday Greetings set of rubber stamps, and added a faux stitched border to my background.

Below is a complete list of the hop in case you get lost along the way

Happy Hopping
