Getting a little Twisted & Quirky with The Stamping Boutique

The Stamping Boutique is sponsoring this weeks Quirky Crafts Challenge.  The challenge was to create a twisted easel card and/or a mother's day gift.  So I went with a mother's day easel card.  I used some of my favourite papers from Echo Park's Be Mine Collection as well as the very cute Audrey's Picnic image from The Stamping Boutique.   To embellish my card i created some paper flowers, using two sizes of circles punched from the card, with a gem as there centres.  I used my dymo label maker to make a sentiment to add to the card.

The challenge is open until April 15th, so why not try you hand at a twisted easel card, they are great fun and alot easier to make than you'd think.

New Arrivals at The Burtonesque Dolls

Just like in The Corpse Bride.... New ARRIVALS!!!!

Welcome dolls to our New Arrivals Release!  Meet the Toxic Kids created by Jordyn Fischer!  This young man has quite the imagination when it comes to unique!  As you can see they fit in perfectly with The Burtonesque Dolls!  You can find them all in stock here.

We are challenging you today recreate any of the DT's card with your own twist!
Here's my card for this week's challenge
For my card I chose the wonderfully named 'Trouble' to play the main character in Tim Burton's new film 'Lucifer'.  Lucifer is kind of like Beetlejuice in character, and is a real little devil.

I kept my card fairly simple, I computer generated the 'Lucifer' in a firey font, and printed it onto white cardstock.  I also printed 'Trouble' and the little devil sentiment.  I created my background using Prismacolour Art Stix and OMS, drawing a firey swirl in shades of yellow, orange and red.  I drew a devil's tail around the little devil sentiment, before colouring that to coordinate with my background.  'Trouble' is colour with Prismacolour pencils and OMS, with a little white gel pen for highlights.  I mounted my background onto a black card blank, added some die cut black clouds, along with my image and the devil tail sentiment.

I can't wait to see your take on this week's challenge, Thanks for visiting with me

A Magical Monday Colour Challenge

It's Monday, So time for a little Magic with Paper Cupcakes; This week we have a fun colour challenge, The colours are

Yellow, Pink & Green

For my card I chose the adorable 'Friends in All Sizes' image from the Paper Cupcake's Store.  I found this lovely floral paper in my stash, and thought it was perfect for this card,  I coloured my image with a mixture of Promarkers, and Prismacolour Pencils with OMS. My sentiment is from the Valentine Tickets, I simply printed the whole sheet out on A4 cardstock, cut out the ticket I wanted to use, and then used a hole punch to punch the ticket corners.  I then added some felt flowers from my stash, along with a pretty green 3D Butterfly Sticker.

Thanks for visiting with me, I look forward to seeing your magical creations

Club Anya Forever!!

It was very sad to read that Club Anya & Friends is closing, It will always have a very special place in my heart, as it was the very first site to give me a Guest Designer Spot, and If It hadn't been for Jess and Marie, I might not be enjoying all the wonderful DT Spots I now have.

So to honour this wonderful site, I decided that I had to take part in this week's Saturday Sketch Challenge, as it is the last one, and it gave me the chance to play with one of my favourite Anyas.

I had great fun with this card, using some of my favourite papers (Be Mine by Echo Park), along with some washi tape, my dymo label maker, and the absolutely gorgeous Stamping Anya. Anya is coloured with Letraset Promarkers, and a little Prismacolour pencil for eyeshadow.

So Goodbye Club Anya & Friends, and Hello ????, I've no idea what the next challenge blog is going to be over at The Greeting Farm, but something new is coming on April 1st, I can't wait to read all about it.

Thanks for visiting with me today, and make sure you leave some love at Club Anya & Friends, they deserve it :)

Today is the day... you can get these cuties in both Digi and Rubber form!

Digis can be found here
Rubber here

Today is also Challenge day... we challenge you to create a card, page layout, or any crafty project Easter themed, and use any or both of the following in your projects; 1 Chocolate Bunny, 2 Easter Eggs.  Three lucky winners will be chosen for the following prizes:

1st Winner: Scott and Wednesday digi
2nd Winner Judy and Alex digi
3rd Winner Tilly and Sally digi

Here's my challenge card, using a bunny was easy as Wednesday has a sweet choccy bunny in her hands.  I found these Easter Egg embellishments in my stash, I can't remember where they came from, but i thought they would work perfectly for this card.

I wanted to keep the background fairly simple for this card, but not too plain, so taking inspiration from the stripes on the eggs, I used strips of washi tape to create a stripy background on my lilac card blank.  Wednesday is coloured with a mixture of Promarkers and Prismacolour pencils with OMS.

I hope you have as much fun colouring these images as I have, I look forward to seeing your creations in blogland, don't forget to join in our challenge.

Sweet Gothic Easter Sneak Peek #5 - Meet Tilly

Today I've another of the beautiful Sweet Gothic Easter Girls to share with you; Let me introduce Tilly, isn't she pretty?  Everything about this image shouts Spring to me, Her bright smile, flowing hair, umbrella!!  Yep Spring means Rain here; Got to love Spring.

For my card I used papers from the DCWV Spring Stack, a couple of circle punches, butterfly dies, dotty border punch, washi tape, pearls & gems.  I coloured Tilly with Prismacolour Pencils and Oms.

Make sure you come back tomorrow for our final sneak peek, and a new challenge.
Have a great day

Your Just My Type!!

Here's a card I created with the 'Just My Type' set of stamps from Lawn Fawn. These clear stamps are so easy to use, and give a brilliant impression every time you use them; they make it really easy to create a quick card, that looks like you spent ages on it.

I used some blue card stock to create a card blank, to which I added some scraps of paper from Prima's 'My Little Guy Collection'.  I stamped my image onto some white cardstock, coloured the typewriter, then add the sentiment.  I used an EK Success border punch to create the notebook edge effect on my card stock, before I added it to my card.  To finish my card I added some faux stitching, and stamped the little paper clip.

Thanks for visiting with me, and don't forget to check out the rest of the Lawn Fawn stamps available at Make The Day Special.

Sweet Gothic Easter Sneak Peek #3 - Meet Sally

Are you loving the Sweet Gothic Easter images as much as I am?, I do hope you are.  Today we introduce you to the super sweet Sally, isn't she a cutie, She's definately another of my favourites,   I really had a blast on this card.

I made my card blank out of a piece of pale blue cardstock, added some papers from DCWV's Spring Stack (Yes,  I'm trying to use up some of my older stash!!).  I mounted Sally onto a piece of blue cardstock which I'd used my EK Success punches on to create the border detail.  I added a couple of handmade rolled flowers, with some orange vellum leaves.  To finish it all off I added a Ticket Sentiment from Paper Cupcakes.

Have a great day

Make it Burton...with the BDolls

The challenge for this's very very simple.... Make it a Burton... creepy, crawly, funky, fun, cooky anything Burton.  Any theme any color scheme and any way you can Burtonize your art!

As soon as I saw 'The Cape' image from The Red Cape Collection at the Pixie Dust Studio, I knew I had to get her, and give her a Burtonesque twist, any excuse to make a cute image look spooky!

I found a photo of a spooky forest online, downloaded it, and played around with it a little to make it spookier, before printing it out in Black onto some white cardstock.  I trimmed my background and mounted onto some Black gloss card, then came the bloody fingerprints (red distressing ink).  I coloured 'The Cape' image with Promarkers and Prismacolour pencils, before trimming it and adding to my card.  To finish it all off, I created my sentiment with my Dymo label maker.

Now you really will want to join in this challenge, as it's got a great prize.
One winner will get the GDT spot for April!!  You will get your very own unique button, be part of the team for April, and two free digis from our first release next week!
Yes you heard right, Betty has some awesome new 'Burtonesque' images for you all to play with, but you've got to wait one more week, tehe!!

So have fun and embrace your Inner Burtonesque Doll

Embrace the Vintage with Paper Cupcakes

It's time for another Magical Monday Challenge with the Paper Cupcake crew, and this weeks challenge is a corker; The Challenge is to create a Vintage Card or Tag!!!  I went all out with the distressing of my image for this vintage tag.  I printed Doodle Flower 4 image, and coloured it with prismacolour pencils and oms.  I then scrunched it up, added some distressing ink, strayed with water, scrunched a little more, and then dried with my heat gun.  I then trimmed my image and adhered it to a Sizzix Dog Tag die cut, adding some washi tape, ribbon and buttons.

I'm not sure how Vintage this tag looks, but I kind of like how it turned out, and Vintage is a style i always struggle with.  I hope you've time to play along with our challenge this week, it's fun trying a different style, and you never know you might create something beautiful.

Thanks for visiting with me,
Have a great week

It's Party Time at The Shabby Tea Room

The Shabby Tea Room is Celebrating it's first year of challenges, with a Party Time challenge, all you have to do to join in is create a Card, Banner or Gift with a Birthday or Celebration theme.

For my card I used the super cute Birthday Bunny from The Stamping Boutique, just a fun image to work with, and I had real fun with this card.  I created my card blank from a sheet of silver pearlescent card stock, and added some pale pink polka dot paper from DCWV's Spring Stack.  I coloured my image in Prismacolour pencils and oms, using a silver prismacolour pencil for the cake stand.  I die cut my image, and then added some pink fluffy stuff to the cake, and the edges of my background paper, I left this to dry for a few minutes before heating with my heat gun to make it fluffy.  To finish my card I added some silver mesh ribbon, with a stamped and die cut sentiment.

I love how the fluffy stuff looks like Icing, adds a lovely touch of dimension to the card, and the whole card looks very appropriate for a 1st birthday.

Monochromatic Magic with Paper Cupcakes

Today I'd like to share with you my first DT card for Paper Cupcakes.  This weeks challenge at There's Magic In the Air with Paper Cupcakes is to create a Monochromatic creation, I decided to use various shades of lilac and purple for my card, along with the beautiful Cute Valentine image available in the Paper Cupcake Store.

I used a lilac card blank, along with some patterned paper from Blonde Moments; Sugar Dumpling paper pack.  My image is coloured with prismacolour pencils and oms.  I stamped my sentiment in purple stazon.
I used a little pink with my lilac, embellishing my card with pink butterflies, and pink glitter stickers.  Maybe not strictly monochromatic, but close enough I think.

I gave this card to my Mum last week, as it was her birthday, and she loves shades of lilac and purple.  So she was very happy with it.  Hope you like it too, and Thank you so much for visiting with me today.

Let's Celebrate with Simply Betty Stamps

Well hello everyone! So happy to see you here on this fine Friday morning! Today we have a special Challenge, it's a Celebration Challenge... what are we celebrating? NEW RUBBER RELEASE!! Woohoo!

Today not only do we have a challenge, but we have these cute Sweet Gothic Kids Birthday Line in rubber!

You heard me RUBBER! All in stock and all ready to go to a good home that will provide them with lots of ink and play time!

Our challenge is using any SBS image: anything Birthday of course!

For my card I couldn't resist using the gorgeous Sally from the Sweet Gothic Kids Birthday Line, she is definately one of my all time favourite Simply Betty Stamps

I Love the Balloons that are on the Sally image, but for this card decided to try something a little different and replace them.  I used a heart nestie to cut out 3 felt hearts to replace the balloons.  I also die cut a piece of white felt before stamping my sentiment on it with violet stazon, I'm quite pleased a how this turned out, and never would have thought of it, if I had seen this week's 'Ways to Use It' Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.

I coloured Sally with prismacolour pencils and oms, then die cut her and distressed the edges. I used paper from the Blonde Moments Sugar Dumpling set, I used a MFT Die and stamp combo for my sentiment. I added some purple felt to the bottom of the card, this helps anchor the image, and gives a nice strong background for my sentiment.

I love the texture of the felt on this card, so soft, love the pastel colours too.  Such a super sweet birthday card, maybe too sweet for some, but you all know now much I love pink!

Thanks for visiting with me, and don't forget to hop over to the Simply Betty Challenges Blog to see the awesome creations the rest of the DT have to inspire you with.

Have a wonderful day

A Spring inspired ATC

The sun is shining and spring is in the air, so I was inspired to create a spring ATC.  One of the things I love about ATCs is the size, such a nice size to play around with and experiment, and that's what i did with this project.

I started off with a piece of white cardstock that I adhered some green tissue paper to, I then stamped the flower pot image from the 'So this is Love' Set, using Shades of Green Blending Blox.  I embossed this with clear embossing powder then stamped and embossed the image again.  I stamped and embossed my sentiment and trimmed round it before placing it on my ATC.  The background needed something else, so I added some yellow check washi tape, before stamping and embossing the flower pot image again.  To finish my ATC off I inked the edges of it and the sentiment, and added a pierce detail to the corners.

A completely experimental piece for me, but was great fun, and it definitely looks like spring to me.
Hope I've inspired you to get your ink and stamps out and just have some fun.

The Martians are Coming....

Yep the Invasion is ongoing, so this week's challenge over at the Burtonesque Dolls is to create a card/project inspired by Mars Attacks!!

I had real fun with my card, I found this awesome image by Loston Wallace on DeviantArt, so I printed it out and coloured it with my promarkers.  I created a card base from a piece of red cardstock, to which I added a piece of white cardstock that i'd adhered some green tissue paper to.  I then added some green glitter circle stickers, and layered my image onto the card.  I added some more glitter stickers to my card base, along with a few strips of washi tape.

I can't wait to see your Martian inspired projects, remember you've got 2 weeks to play along with the challenge, so plenty of time to join in the fun.

I Love Balloons

Who doesn't love Balloons?  I automatically think of parties and happy times when I see Balloons; Have you ever seen a sad Balloon!! My Card today features the Balloon and string stamps from My Cute Stamp's 'Birthday Numbers' Set.

To create my balloons I stuck random strips of washi tape to some white cardstock, then stamped some balloons.  I then cut my balloons out and arranged them onto my background, before stamping the strings.  Using a heart die I cut out my background piece, using a large heart die I create a card base.  I layered my background onto the card base, adhering a couple of the balloons flat, whilst raising the rest on foam pads.  To finish it off a very simple yellow ribbon bow.

Make sure you check out the rest of the My Cute Stamps range that is available in the Make The Day Special Store, they really are cute stamps, and lovely to work with.
